*Job Opening: * Position: Assistant Stage Manager for Mary Poppins Ideal Candidate: High School Students with open after school availability. Must be 16+ Time Commitment: August 27th - Oct 27th Compensation: Small stipend or community service hours if requested. Duties: During rehearsals, ASMs can take on a ton of different jobs. Some of these tasks may include (but are not limited to): - Helping to set up the rehearsal space and keep it clean and tidy - Assisting the stage manager with administrative tasks (for example, the stage manager may delegate calling latecomers to the ASM so the stage manager can stay in rehearsal and take notes) - Taking notes and updating the prompt book. - Acting as stage manager and taking notes in separate rehearsals (for example, the stage manager may stay with the director and take blocking notes while the ASM goes with the choreographer to record dance combinations) - Liaising with the costume and props teams - Standing onstage as a placeholder for an absent actor - Reading cue lines or prompting actors during run-throughs (so the stage manager is free to take notes) - Running lines with actors who are at rehearsal but not being used at that moment - Be available for ALL shows to run backstage. ‘Woody’s Order!’ made to order for none too fragile Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal “Every woman has a one-woman show in her,” says Oprah Winfrey in a recent issue of her mothership magazine, O. The one in Ann Talman is a 90-minute autobiographical monologue that reveals the life-sucking exertion and life-affirming devotion that defined the unconditional loving of and caring for Woody – her nonverbal, quadriplegic cerebral palsied older brother – for most of their lives. “Woody’s Order!” is an especially personal journey to be taken on, packed with heart-wrenching self-disclosures that tell of brave but broken parents, unrealized aspirations, and “rescue dreams” where a sleeping Ann’s subconscious would create haunting life-or-death scenarios that required her to either save Woody or herself. She would always, in reality and in slumber, opt for Woody. And yet, despite the courage associated with exposing her soul to strangers and the theatrical pleasures we derive from the pain of her experiences, this engaging but pre-fabricated production is rarely enthralling. When a new intimate connection begins to form, all three men must come to terms with their individual definitions of love, loyalty, and trust as futures are questioned, relationships are shaken, and commitments are challenged. She’s hired the celebrated gourmet chef Vilma Hasenpfeffer to prepare her famous Hasenpfeffer Hollandaise Sauce for her dinner guests — the new vicar and his very pregnant wife, Mary. Unfortunately, however, the chef is late, the guests are early and there are burglars loose in the neighborhood. To top it all off, Claire’s father has been hit on the head (with the crèche, no less!) and thinks he’s the leading man in all of the West End theatre productions of the last 30 years! With the help of her quirky brother George, Claire tries to keep everything together as it continues to unravel in this sidesplitting British farce reminiscent of Arsenic and Old Lace. But once the mayhem dies down and the mixed-up identities unscramble, the true Christmas spirit shines bright in a surprise ending, which involves transformation, forgiveness, and a beautiful new beginning.
