We will have a planned trip to the Akron Art Museum and a nature hike in the park! 6/17-6/28 Theme: Rocking and Rolling Explore your new talents in music with our drumming class and then jump and jive with our dance class. Roll out some science in our second week of fun and interactive science experiments and top it all off with a bit of theatre with our expert theatre instructor. We are planning a trip to the Akron Zoo!! Summer Session 2: 7/8-7/19 Theme: Island Adventure Join us as we travel to the islands and have our very own luau! You will learn how to keep your friends and family entertained with theatre and comedy training while becoming the next billionaire with our Junior Achievement program! We are planning a trip to a nearby park for a camp picnic. 7/22-8/9 Theme: Lights, Camera, Action--Performance Workshop Dim the lights and grab your hat…the Salvation Army Youth Company is putting on a show. When they are not in rehearsal, they will be honing their skills with two of the most renowned theatre instructors in Northeast Ohio. Cousins Brielle and Edward secretly arrange a meeting between their mothers Gwen and Vern who have had an estranged relationship for the past 20 years. Dobama finds the truth in ‘This,’ an engaging play about loss Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal “I’m back,” says Jane, just before the lights dim for the final time in the 100-minute, intermission-less treatise on grief that is Melissa James Gibson’s “This.” Up until that moment, Jane has been standing on the threshold of moving on with her life after the death of her husband, but is incapable of moving forward. She’s been sleepwalking through the last year absentmindedly raising her 9-year-old daughter, inattentively interacting with her small circle of friends who are invested in their own personal crises, and going through the motions at work. This sounds terribly depressing and the play’s monosyllabic title implies a numbing simplicity in the storytelling, but “This” is an engaging and complicated work, as are most of Gibson’s creations including her Obie Award-winning “[sic]” and Emmy Award-winning “House of Cards.” For more of this article, go to www.clevelandjewishnews.com/columnists/bob_abelman/

Roles: Student 1: Romeo, etc. Student 2: Juliet, Benvolio, Friar John, etc. Student 3: Mercutio, Lady Capulet, Friar Lawrence, etc. Student 4: Tybalt, Nurse, Balthasar, etc. 4 MALES THAT CAN PLAY IN THE RANGE OF HIGH SCHOOL AGE. All must have at least an introductory grasp of Shakespeare's work and language. A background in stage movement or stage combat is preferred. HOMOS, OR EVERYONE IN AMERICA by Jordan Seavey Oct 18-Nov 9, directed by Clyde Simon Homos, or Everyone in America by Jordan Seavey, directed by Clyde Simon, is told through interweaving glimpses into the life of an everyday couple unexpectedly confronted by a vicious hate crime. Homos, or Everyone in America is a fearless, often funny, heart-on-its-sleeve examination of the moments that can bring two people together – or pull them apart. (Ohio premiere.) Auditions will consist of readings in pairs from the script, which is written in a unique and interesting overlapping / interweaving style – an exciting approach to the language of dialogue. Roles: 3 MALES, 1 FEMALE The Writer: Male, Caucasian, ages from late twenties to early thirties. The Academic: Male, Latino, a grad student, ages from late twenties to early thirties. Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for CHARLOTTE'S WEB Located at 324 Cleveland Ave. NW Canton, Ohio 44702 SYNOPSIS: All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the "miracle" of her web in which she writes, "Some pig." It's the beginning of a victorious campaign which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte. This is a beautiful, knowing play about friendship that will give your actors a great opportunity and your audience an evening of enchantment.
