A Tunisian-American dual citizen, she has lived in the United States, Tunisia, and Southern France. She is the author of the chapbooks Ebb (New-Generation African Poets) and Tunsiya/Amrikiya. Her poems have received prizes from Ploughshares’ Emerging Writer’s Contest, Narrative’s 30 Below Contest, and the Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize, among others, and appear in Best New Poets (2015 & 2017), Ploughshares, Tin House, American Poetry Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, The Georgia Review, New England Review, Kenyon Review Online, Narrative, The Rumpus, and other journals and anthologies. In 2017, she was the first North African poet to be shortlisted for the Brunel International African Poetry Prize. She currently serves as the Consulting Poetry Editor at the Raleigh Review and lives in Cleveland, Ohio, where she is the inaugural Anisfield-Wolf Fellow in Writing and Publishing at Cleveland State University. The town of Valleytop sits at the foot of a mountain, above which a Demon resides. The Demon’s only pleasure is derived from cursing the town below. Every generation, the people of Valleytop send up a young woman...not so the Demon will stop, but so he’ll curse them less than he otherwise would. Now, a young woman named Lydia refuses to become a sacrifice, and puts her town as well as the nearby Mountainbottom at risk. Lydia must negotiate not only with a Demon, but with a ‘hero’ named Billy Ray who’s sent by Mountainbottom to save the day. Lydia must stop the Demon, end the curse, and fend off Billy Ray’s advances. CHORUS DIRECTOR Akron Symphony Orchestra Posted March 2019 The Akron Symphony Orchestra seeks a Chorus Director to begin in the 2019-2020 season. The Akron Symphony Chorus, an all-volunteer 100-voice ensemble, has traditionally performed each year on two or more of the orchestra's subscription concerts, the annual holiday pops concert, a stand-alone choral concert, and additional programs as scheduled. Repertoire includes a full range of symphonic choral works, as well as works suitable for pops concerts and chamber settings. The Chorus Director works closely with the Music Director in selecting programs and repertoire. S/he leads all artistic activities of the chorus, recruits and auditions prospective chorus members, and prepares the chorus for all performances. S/he reports to the Music Director and the Executive Director of the Akron Symphony Orchestra. The Akron Symphony seeks an individual who demonstrates the highest artistic and professional standards in performance, and who is skilled in training, rehearsing, motivating, recruiting and retaining quality singers. The successful candidate will have experience preparing symphonic repertoire in a professional setting, and an understanding of the circumstances unique to working with a professional orchestra. S/he will be a key participant in the Akron Symphony's long-range plan, and will be called upon to represent the organization at civic and social functions, as well as in community engagement programs. Significant experience with symphonic choral repertoire required; familiarity with opera and musical theater preferred. Compensation and benefits commensurate with experience. Imaginos is looking for more talented actors to join our team and perform as costumed characters at parties and events! Our open auditions are Saturday, March 23rd from 11am to 1pm AND Sunday, March 24th from 9am to 11am at our office location here: 682 West Bagley Road, #A-8, Berea, OH 44017. We are looking for young, enthusiastic individuals with some experience in acting and performing. Please bring with you to the audition a resume, head shot, and--if possible--basic body measurements. The audition will include improvisation and lots of movement. If you do sing, please prepare a song (roughly 30 seconds). "Forever Plaid" auditions at Rabbit Run Theater

DATE: March 18, 2019 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Auditions for "Forever Plaid" at Rabbit Run Theater Audition appointments are now being taken for "Forever Plaid" at Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio. "Forever Plaid" a musical originally written, directed and choreographed by Stuart Ross, runs from May 31 through June 15. The production is directed by Ann Hedger. Musical direction is by Danielle Jones and choreography is by Hannah Green. There are four roles available for men, ages 18 to 35. Four young men, Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie share a love for music. Rehearsing in the basement of Smudge's family's plumbing supply company, they become "Forever Plaid". This musical revue is chock-full of nostalgic 1950's hits performed with classic barbershop quartet harmonies. Auditions for "Forever Plaid" are Friday, Mar. 22, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Mar. 23 from 3 to 6 p.m. Actors auditioning should prepare to sing 16 measures of a Broadway-style song from memory. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist in a binder. No pre-recorded accompaniment or CD tracks. No monologue need be prepared as actors will read sides from the script. Actors should dress for movement (jeans are acceptable, no sweatpants). All auditions are at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St., Madison, OH. Auditions are by appointment only.
