AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR Two Roles in WAITING FOR GODOT at the Brecksville Theatre on Tuesday, July 5, at 7:30pm ARE YOU SCARED OF GODOT? No need to be. Yes, it is one of the greatest works in the history of The Theatre…DAUNTING. Yes, many members of the audience find it difficult…in some productions…DANGEROUS. Yes, there are lots of words to learn and they have to be learned accurately…HARD. BUT…those are the usual actors’ challenges and the roles always reward the actor. This play is essentially vaudeville. The great comic actor Bert Lahr of Cowardly Lion fame was in the original American production. While there are serious, even tragic aspects to this play, it should (will) be curiously uplifting for both the cast and the audience. It is wildly funny—in the style of Chaplin or The Marx Brothers. It is not about boredom. It is about what we do to avoid boredom! So you’ve read it and you don’t see the theatrical power of Waiting for Godot? Well, performing it and seeing it performed are a very different experience from reading it. Waiting for Godot is exciting theatre. Come audition for the two remaining open roles of Pozzo and The Boy. Who is Pozzo? He is a larger than life presence, maybe a captain of industry or maybe a politician or maybe a tyrant or maybe a blowhard. He blusters and weeps and his moods and vocality change quickly. He contains multitudes. He is usually older, but that isn’t required for this production. He is usually stout, but that isn’t required for this production. You just need to be a good actor who enjoys taking risks and who want to improve his craft by going for this challenge! Who is The Boy? He is a young person between the ages of 9 and 12. At the end of each of the two acts, he shows up and says he has been sent by Godot and tells Estragon (Gogo) and Vladimir (Didi) that Mr. Godot can’t come today. He has two wonderful scenes and the young actor who plays the role will learn much about the craft of acting. And who knows? There is much for anyone to learn from acting in… WAITING FOR GODOT Auditions are Tuesday evening at The Brecksville Theatre starting at 7:30pm. Western Reserve Playhouse presents the emotional drama bare with Music by Damon Intrabartolo, Lyrics by Jon Hartmere and Book by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo. The show will run July 13-28. As part of their commitment to community awareness, WRP is partnering with the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to bring you this show. In doing so, WRP & GLSEN will be holding talkbacks after the performances on July 14th, 22nd and 27th. These talkbacks will include the ability to talk with the cast and director, as well as different representatives from GLSEN. A pulsating, electric contemporary rock musical, bare follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity and the future. Peter and Jason have fallen in love with each other, but Jason - a popular athlete - fears losing his status if he is discovered to be gay. Unpopular Nadia, Jason’s sister, is contemptuous of Ivy, a beautiful girl with a questionable reputation. As the group attempts to put up a production of Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, self-doubt simmers and God’s path seems more difficult to find than ever. bare rings with the sounds of youthful repression and revolt. With a unique sung-through pop score, heart-pounding lyrics and a cast of bright young characters, bare is a provocative, fresh and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul, and the consequences of continuing to hide. Co-Artistic Director Brian Westerley directs this stunning piece, with Musical Direction by Dave Stebbins and Choreography by Kristy Cruz. Tackling the roles of Peter & Jason are Nick Urbanic & Nick Sobotka, respectively. Bringing her own unique take to Nadia is Korinne Courtwright & stunningly portraying Ivy is Laney Davis. The other students are played by Dominic Sonby, Daniel Hunsicker, Kayla Lehman, Khylee Kridler, Olivya DeLuca, Brooke Lytton, Austin Hopson and Ben Arrington. Auditions for "Little Women: The Musical" will take place Sunday, July 15 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm & on Monday, July 16 from 6-pm -8:30pm. Callbacks will be Tuesday, July 17 from 6-9pm (if needed). Dance auditions will occur from 8:30-9:30PM the day of your audition, so please bring clothes to change into. The show runs October 5-20, 2018, with the possibility of touring to a few schools. Directed by: Artistic Director Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski Musical Direction: Dave Stebbins Choreographer: Jen Justice Please prepare a full contemporary musical theater piece (prefer legit with a mix of belt). When an unexpected visit by Foss’ shady, miscreant brother Danny upsets their usual Saturday routine, the couple must navigate a minefield of long suppressed resentments, past histories and hurt feelings, bringing them to a crossroads pondering the questions: Is Love enough to sustain a relationship?
