Callbacks will be held Thursday June 12th from 7pm until complete. *All Roles Are Available For All Actors Ages 16 and Up* Prepare: Please prepare 32 bars of a musical selection in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. Please present music in a binder for the comfort of the accompanist. Dance, Vocals, and Script cold reads will held at callbacks. Not all audition hopefuls will require a callback to be cast. If you cannot attend in person, the director will also be accepting video auditions. Synopsis: In the satirical comedy Young Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of infamous Victor Frankenstein, inherits his grandfather's Transylvanian castle and is drawn into his grandfather's research on reanimation. With the help of his assistant Igor, Frederick attempts to replicate his grandfather's work, but his experiment leads to unexpected and hilarious consequences. Open Call + Creative Gathering Akron Bicentennial Outdoor Drama Project | Saturday, May 10, 2025 | 12:00–3:00 p.m. Waters Park (140 Olive St, Akron, OH) Rain location: Balch Street Theatre Gum–Dip Theatre is inviting actors, musicians, dancers, and interdisciplinary artists to a collaborative gathering for an original, site-based play in honor of Akron’s 200th birthday. This is not a traditional audition. This gathering is an opportunity to connect, learn more about the project, and explore the creative process together. The script is already in development, and we are now seeking artists to help further shape it through their own creative contributions. Whether through movement, music, storytelling, or presence, ensemble members will help bring the script to life and enrich it with their unique perspectives and skills. About the Process This is a hybrid performance that blends narrative scenes with poetic, abstract, and sensory-driven moments. It incorporates music, voice, projection, and physicality as part of the storytelling. Some of the work will be physically active and improvisational. You do not need to prepare a monologue or song—just come ready to collaborate, share, and play. The Broadview Heights Spotlights is seeking applications for the position of director for "Moon Over Buffalo" by Ken Ludwig. Performances: August 29, 2025–September 13, 2025 Audition Date Target: Week of June 15 Rehearsal Start Date Target: Week of July 13 Ideal candidates must be able to show strong comedic sensibility and a knack for physical comedy. The play is farcical in nature and includes rapid-fire entrances, exits, and mistaken identities. Experience with broad, character-driven comedy is crucial, as is the ability to guide actors in finding both the humor and the underlying humanity in these larger-than-life personalities. They should also possess excellent pacing skills to keep the energy high and the laughs coming, while ensuring the emotional through-line of George and Charlotte's relationship remains clear amidst the chaos. A collaborative spirit and a willingness to embrace the play's inherent silliness are also highly desirable.
