Cleveland Public Theatre is hiring a paid part-time summer Pandemonium Intern. Every September, Cleveland Public Theatre hosts its one and only fundraising spectacular: Pandemonium. It takes over 6 months to plan; hosts over 1,300 guests, 300 artists who donate their time, and 150 volunteers; and raises between $250,000 and $315,000 each year for our programming. Even with our small but mighty development department of 3 staff members, there is a great need for extra help in the summer as the event approaches. In this capacity, the intern would work directly with our Director of Development and Development Assistant on a wide variety of event planning tasks. These tasks include, among others: proofreading content, coordinating mailing lists, making phone calls to donors, liaising with vendors and the artistic department, planning logistics for the guest experience, helping to orient the volunteers, co-managing day-of guest registration, and building relationships with ticket buyers and funders. We are constantly working to improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of this event and are looking for someone who will not only complete tasks, but also offer suggestions on how to improve those tasks. Pandemonium will be held on September 8, 2018, with the bulk of the work taking place in the months prior. While the largest project the intern would undertake is preparation for Pandemonium, in the true spirit of Cleveland Public Theatre's work culture, we may also call upon the intern to support the marketing, box office, finance, and/or artistic departments, especially in any particular area of interest for the intern. We will provide ample training for all required tasks. The ideal candidate is: - Meticulous and organized - Literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook - A team player: positive attitude, flexible, and eager to learn - Passionate about the arts, particularly theatre Dates (Ideally) Late May through September 14 *Must be available all day on Saturday, September 8 Hours Minimum 10 hours per week May go up to 20 hours per week in August and September Pay: $8.30 per hour Interested? Volunteer at Station Hope! We need your support as we create this powerful and unique event Station Hope for the fifth year! What is Station Hope? Station Hope is a collection of short works of theatre, dance, choral performances and visual art installations, all inspired by current social justice issues. Taking place throughout Cleveland's first authenticated Underground Railroad site, St. John's Episcopal Church in Ohio City, the event aims to bring together neighborhoods and individuals to engage and reflect on social justice, equity, and a shared vision of hope. Station Hope is on Saturday, May 5th from 6:30-10:00pm. Volunteer Tasks - What do we need you to do? First and foremost: be active and engaged in the event itself, while also helping attendees navigate the evening. * Check out the Event! Don't worry - you'll have plenty of time to experience the event yourself * There are two Volunteer shifts available for the event: 5:45pm - 8:30pm and 8:15pm - 11:00pm Specifically, volunteer duties will break down as follows: * Ushers - Help monitor traffic flow and answer questions, direct attendees to particular venues along with our CPT House Management Staff * Parking/Outdoor Support - Direct attendees to parking areas and event monitor outdoor spaces along with our CPT facilities staff * Greenrooms - Monitor traffic flow, and help with assigned tasks in these areas, along with our CPT Staff Individuals who are interested in volunteering must attend one of two volunteer meetings before Station Hope, one on Sunday, April 29th at 1 pm or on Tuesday, May 1st at 5:30 pm. These meetings are an opportunity for CPT staff to fill volunteers in on more details, and for volunteers to tour St. John's -and maybe see some artist work before the big day!
