Potential dancers do not have to be students at Cleveland City Dance.� All dancers must�be a minimum of 10 years old by September 2017; be currently taking ballet and jazz. Sue Snell-Mezzo-Soprano A straight-A student who's been popular her entire life; she's remarkably level headed for her age. Tommy Ross - Tenor Sue's boyfriend, a popular athlete (specifically, a baseball player), but is more than a mere "jock". He is a gifted student who has had his poetry published in literary journals. Feels guilty about the other students' treatment of Carrie, but is reluctant to help change it. Chris Hargensen-Mezzo-Soprano Rich, spoiled-rotten, and wickedly funny, Chris is a popular beauty whose arrogant self-assurance makes her believe that the rules don't apply to her. Loaded with sexual dynamite, she has serious daddy and anger management issues. Her voice is pop-rock percussive and powerful. Miss Gardner-Alto The girls' P.E. teacher can be a strict disciplinarian if necessary, but when Carrie arouses her maternal instinct, she surprises herself by also revealing a protective "fairy godmother" side. Her voice is warm and strong, just like the woman. Billy Nolan-Baritone Now in his sixth year in high school, Billy's a sexy, stupid-like-a-fox bad boy whose wise mouth troublemaking has led him to spend more time in detention than in class. All these qualities make it easy for his girlfriend Chris to manipulate him to do her bidding. His voice is that of a wailing rocker. Mr. Stephens-Baritone A well-intentioned English teacher and guidance counselor who struggles to help his students realize their potential. Freida-Mezzo-Soprano Sue's brainy pal, she's an easy-going, get-along follower and a tireless extracurricular committee volunteer. Norma-Mezzo-Soprano Mean, gossipy, and a shameless suck-up to authority, Norma is second-in-command to Chris' queen bee. George-Tenor Tommy's jock wingman since childhood, George idolizes him. Perhaps a little too much... Stokes-Tenor A bit of a nerd, he's happy to be included as one of Tommy's posse. Hudson Players Announce 73rd Season Hudson's Community Theater Announces Schedule for 2017-18. The Hudson Players have officially announced their 2017-18 Season of high quality shows and award winning theater at a local price. They begin the year in November with the contemporary American drama, A Few Good Men, continue with popular nunsensical musical comedy, Nunsense (to be presented in February), and conclude in April/May with the hysterical, Tony winning, Mel Brooks musical comedy The Producers. This Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage. The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial. "Enormously entertaining." - New York Daily News Nunsense, a nunsensical musical comedy will be presented February 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 23 & 24, 2018. Written by Dan Goggin, and Winner of four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Off Broadway Musical, Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production of "Grease." Here we meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. Featuring star turns, tap dancing, nun ballet, an audience quiz, and comic surprises, this show has become an international phenomenon. The Producers, a Mel Brooks' musical comedy with a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (Annie) and music and lyrics by Brooks, sets the standard for modern, outrageous, humor and unrivaled good times. Hiring Diverse Actors (All Races & Genders) for Civil Rights Testing in Cleveland

The Center for Civil Rights is hiring actors of all races and genders in the Cleveland area to help us investigate discrimination. We conduct civil rights testing across the country. For example, if we believe that a bank is discriminating on the basis of race, we’ll hire a white actor and an actor of color to both go to the bank “undercover," and inquire about a loan. If we find that there is a pattern and practice of discrimination, we may file a complaint. We pay actors $150 for a typical assignment. Our training will be in Cleveland on Saturday, May 6th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Participants will be paid $75 for completing the training.
