OUR TOWN by Thornton Wilder Directed by Fred Gloor Ushering in a new era of modern theatre, Thornton Wilder wrote of a people frozen in the earliest years of the 20th century. Decades later audiences continue to be moved by their simple yet universal struggles, dreams, loves and triumphs. PERFORMANCES July 14-23 Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30PM Sundays at 3PM AUDITIONS Monday March 13, 7:00PM-10:00PM Auditions are in ten-minute time-slots, which can be reserved by calling (440) 949-5200. Actors may prepare a monologue, but is not required. Actors should be prepared to stay up to 60 minutes past their scheduled time to read with other actors. REHEARSALS Beginning June 4. Funnery in the Nunnery - Auditions for "Drinking Habits" This coming weekend!

The Wadsworth Footlighters kick off the Spring Season with their production of Drinking Habits by Tom Smith. This fast paced comedy follows The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing, two nuns in a small convent, trying to keep the doors open by secretly making and selling wine to the local townspeople. The only problem is the two nuns have been keeping their secret from Mother Superior, who hates wine so much she can't even mention the word. Add on a Padre who is an amateur magician , a good natured Groundskeeper, a Novice nun and two snooping reporters who happen to be a formerly affianced couple who are on the hunt for evidence of an illegal wine making racket in the community to the point of being mistaken for either new clergy transferred to the Order or spies sent from Rome to shut down the convent, and you have a zany show that guarantees to uncork a magnum of laughs. Auditions will occur at Grace Lutheran Church located at 146 High Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281 on the following dates: Sunday, March 19th at 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday, March 20th at 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mother Superior: Age range 40 plus – tee totaling head of the convent where “the devil’s hair tonic” is being made right under her nose. Worried convent will be shut down by spies sent from Rome and will go to great lengths to stay open. Sister Augusta: Age range 30 plus – Good hearted but willing to do anything to prevent Mother Superior from finding out about her an Sister Philamena’ s alternate pressing plans Sister Philamena: Age range 30 plus – Very innocent but has a heart of gold. Has a very hard time concealing the operation she and her cohort Sister Augusta are involved in. Sister Mary Catherine: Age range mid 20 plus – Transferred to Sisters of Perpetual Sewing. She knows that she belongs in this convent, but is hiding a secret that brought her there. Sally: Age range mid 20 plus – Serious newspaper reporter that feels she’s on the brink of cracking open an expose to put her into Ace reporter status after many years of being held back. Goes undercover to grab the expose of a lifetime. Paul: Age range mid 20 plus – Sally’s fiancé that she left at the altar to pursue her dreams. Strong physical comedy skills are extremely helpful to portray this character. Forlorn and henpecked, he’ll do anything to get Sally back including putting on long flowing robes. George: Age range mid 20 plus – Simple, Innocent Care taker and maintenance man for the convent. Father Chenille: HAS BEEN CAST Actors: Cold Read form the script. First time actors are warmly welcome. Please bring current headshot if available (not required), and conflict dates with you. Production runs May 18 through May 21, 2017. Auditions will be a cold read from the script. The rehearsal schedule will be determined on cast availability and conflict schedule. Rehearsals run Sunday through Thursday evenings. CREW MEMBERS & NEWBIES: Audition nights are a perfect time to come out, meet the director, and express your interest in helping out backstage, be it in the role of a stage manager, lights & sound operator, concessions, or whatever else you might like to do. They’re also GREAT for first-timers to come out and observe how things are done, maybe express interest in being a helper, or read for a part! You never know what can happen! Questions? Have you ever watched a movie or a play and immediately wanted to talk to the writer to tell them how little sense their script made? Or maybe you wish they would have added in more information about the super cool sister character. Well - now's your chance. Stow Players has a new program this year called the Emerging Playwrights Reading Series where local playwrights can submit their work to be presented in a Staged Reading where the audience is encouraged to give feedback. On Monday, March 20th at 7:30pm we will be presenting a series of short plays written by local playwright Brandi Eaton at the Heritage Barn at Silver Springs. Admission to the performance is FREE. Reservations are not required. Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University’s summer professional theatre, seeks to hire a Facilities Manager for its Summer 2017 season. FACILITIES MANAGER FOR PORTHOUSE THEATRE, KENT STATE UNIVERSITY Start Date: May 30, 2017 End Date: August 15, 2017 Total Stipend: $5000 This is a full time position with Porthouse Theatre with hours that include evenings and weekends. Position reports to Production Manager and Managing Director of Porthouse Theatre. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: 1. Maintaining the operations of the Porthouse Theatre, Read Pavilion, Thornbury Picnic Pavilion, Hackett Pavilion and the grounds of Porthouse Theatre at Blossom Music Center. This includes responsibility for the condition of the lawn and flowerbeds, the picnic tables, the parking lot, signage on the property, the pavilions, the theatre, the dressing rooms, and the public and company restrooms. Prepare all buildings and grounds for opening and closing of the season and work all events and performances for the season. 2. Supervise, train, and work with student workers on the Facilities and Concessions Staff at Porthouse Theatre to do daily maintenance of theatre, concessions area, picnic Pavilions, flowers and flower beds and dressing rooms to maintain the overall appearance and safety of the Porthouse Theatre and grounds. 3. Keep the insect and pest situation under control. 4. Assist the Production Manager and Managing Director to facilitate and solve maintenance, concessions, personnel and materials problems as needed. 5. Coordinate with box office and house management in matters of audience control, audience safety, parking and special needs during all performances and events. 6. Work closely with the Porthouse nightly staff member in charge for performances to maintain a high level of customer service. 7. Attend all staff and front of house meetings. 8. Work with the Assistant Concessions Manager to supervise the running of the Porthouse concessions operation to include maintaining the inventory, ordering, bookkeeping, training and supervising. 9. Work with Assistant Concessions Manager to arrange for the timely deposit of all concessions receipts. 10. Work with Assistant Concessions Manager to maintain the Concession Stand standards as set by the Food Service Operation License we have with the Summit County Health District. Joni L.
