Chagrin Valley Choral Union is starting the 2016-17 season this Sunday, September 11. Please consider joining us this year. We are a non-audition choir that rehearses each Sunday at 7:00 pm at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Solon. Our two concerts are held in Twinsburg. All voice types are welcome. Chagrin Valley Choral Union (CVCU) is a premier group with a rich sixty year history. We are a group dedicated to providing a unique opportunity for singers and music lovers who wish to perform masterworks of choral literature. The roster of singers is as diverse as the music we perform. Welcoming all types of singers ranging from professional musicians and voice students, to church and community group participants, we take pride in our dedication to learning and making music while maintaining a professional presence. CVCU is a non-audition chorus that rehearses on a weekly basis. Our goal is to perform two concerts a year in order to provide the community with exposure to classical choral music. We have performed with local musicians and other choral groups. What separates us from other choral groups is our rich performance history and deep appreciation for expressing and exploring the emotions and passions of the music of the past. However, CVCU has also embraced contemporary music that exemplifies the style and flavor of the past as well, thus remaining dedicated to providing chorus members with a rich and education experience.

The independent film "A Murder Party" needs official logo and poster art. The film is a short feature set in Victorian England and centers around a young, wealthy man who accidentally kills his family's servant and forces his friends to cover up the incident. Despite the title, the film is a comedy, not horror. The director is seeking an artist to colloborate with who has a unique style that reflects the mood of the film. Unfortunately, because the budget was so low, no monetary compensation can be given, but artist will receive royalties (percentage negotiable) for any film merchandise sold that bears their art. Community theater reviews to appear in clevelandjewishnews.com Starting this week, the CJN will be providing weekly reviews of community theater productions. Talented, industrious and often unheralded, the directors, designers and actors who make up the string of amateur, community-based storytellers across Northeast Ohio will have their work reviewed and posted on our website. Other local newspapers that will be printing or posting these reviews include the News-Herald, the Morning Journal, the Chagrin Valley Times, Solon Times and Geauga Times Courier. Crossing Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark, Lorain, Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake counties, CJN’s corp of designated critics will be offering more complete coverage of the local theater scene. Our community theater critics consist of students trained and experienced in arts journalism from Cleveland State University, under the guidance of CJN theater columnist Bob Abelman. They are supported by a CSU Civic Engagement Grant designed to creatively connect the campus with the community by fostering partnerships outside of the university.
