Cleveland Stage Alliance (CSA) presents... “THE DIVAS: Radio Royalty” at the BOP STOP, now part of the Cleveland Music Settlement on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 8 PM. In “The Divas: Radio Royalty,” CSA will take on some of the biggest names (and biggest personalities) in pop music history. From legends like Aretha and Madonna to current stars like Adele and Beyonce with some Whitney and Mariah sprinkled in along the way, these icons will provide the inspiration for this one night only event. Some of Northeast Ohio’s top theater talent comes together to perform new and classic arrangements of familiar tunes accompanied by a live band. “The Divas: Radio Royalty” is the sixth concert in the CSA series that celebrates various beloved aspects of pop culture in a festive evening of song. Following the current trend set in New York by such popular series’ as “Broadway Sings,” “54 Sings” and others, “CSA Presents…” will utilize a rotating cast of local talent to perform material outside of the musical theater canon, with a theatrical flair! The concert is produced by CSA founder Eric Fancher and local actor/director Joanna May Hunkins, and music directed by Lawrence Wallace. Fancher has appeared onstage at Beck Center for the Arts, Lakeland Civic Theatre, Blank Canvas Theatre, Cain Park and Near West Theatre. Hunkins is the associate director of The Musical Theater Project. She directed last year’s critically acclaimed production of Godspell at Cain Park and has worked as an actor and director throughout the Cleveland area. Wallace has music directed at Near West Theatre, Blank Canvas Theatre and True North Cultural Arts. That was what Margo Daley always thought. . . until she ishired to do just that by the Peaceful Glen Memorial Players in their theater, arenovated funeral home. They DO have a couple of conditions, however. Margo hasto make the play a melodrama, she has to insert the sponsors' names into the playand, it has to take place in the Old West! All kinds of eccentric characterscome out of the woodwork in this riotous tribute to life on the communitytheater stage. Even the pizza delivery boy is given several parts since Margoonly has four actors to portray the five-act tragedy. Fast lines and evenfaster exits punctuate this farce as Margo and her troupe of misguided actorsfind out what it's like when they begin "Barbecuing Hamlet."The BroadviewHeights Spotlights Community Theater will present the show on Fridays andSaturdays, April 22-May 7 at 7:30 PM.
