Happy to share that Eve 'n' Stephen will be singing & playing at The North Union Farmer's Indoor Market at Shaker Square NEXT Saturday, February 21, 9 am - noon.We LOVE playing the NUFM. Sunday, February 22, 2-3- pm, we will be performing for the Beachwood Arts Council at The Beachwood Community Center. Free and open to the public, all ages appropriate and there WILL be refreshments :):) So get ready for some toe-tapping, finger-snapping good energy as we come out of semi-hibernation with new songs and renewed energy. Even in the face of her husband's terminal diagnosis, the indomitable Rita Lyons seems a tad more worried about completing the new design of her living room. And don't get Rita started about her adult children, Curtis and Lisa! Reunited to say goodbye to their father, Rita and her children are suddenly struck with the realization that their armor of solitude and isolation have given them no tools to connect as a family. Father, mother and children discover that they must travel to an emotional destination they've never known before: human connection. Wandering Aesthetics is proud to announce the next Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret – a monthly “Anything Goes” Open Mic–style Cabaret. The Electric Pressure Cooker will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 8 pm at None Too Fragile Theater inside Pub Bricco, located at 1841 Merriman Road in Akron, Ohio. The Electric Pressure Cooker is open the public. Tickets are $10 for audience members and $5 for performing artists. Artists can pre-register for a performance slot when purchasing their tickets. All proceeds will go to: The Electric Pressure Cooker… presents Bigger than a Breadbox is one of Akron’s 58 finalists for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge Grant. If Bigger than a Breadbox is selected, Wandering Aesthetics will need to raise $75,000 in matching funds. Winners will be announced in April. Started in the basement of a flower shop, it is an artist driven event that sees over 100 audience members, 30 performances and 6 non-stop hours of art. Registration for performers begins at 7:30 pm. An emcee, house drum kit and sound system (with operators) are provided. Willy Kollman – Torchbearers Class of 2014 – is this month’s emcee. ALL varieties of acts are encouraged to perform. Previous acts have included: monologues, acoustic musicians, play readings, comedians, experimental art, dancers, scenes from plays, improv, devised work, full rock bands and performance artists. But the sky is the limit; no art is too taboo for the #EPCooker! ALL levels – from beginner to the most experienced – are encouraged to perform. Those under 18 are permitted to attend (and perform!) with adult supervision. The #EPCooker is not just an Open Mic. It is an open and welcoming community of artists. It is also a great networking event, a great place to improve stage presence and a great place to develop as an artist. Pub Bricco has a full bar and a wide selection of food. Food and alcohol are permitted in the theatre. About Bigger than a Breadbox: Building on the success of Wandering Aesthetics’ reoccurring Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret, Bigger Than a Breadbox (BTB) draws inspiration from Akron’s historic ties to vaudeville. Using this vaudevillian blueprint, BTB will be a dynamic quarterly event that celebrates artistic excellence and unites audiences through affordable access to a revolving lineup of high quality performers. Hayas Performing Arts Center Brunswick High School 3581 Center Road, Brunswick Our winter play takes an "absurd" turn with Eugene Ionesco's post-WWII drama. Residents in a small town in France are surprised one day when they see a rhinoceros running through the city's streets. As if seeing a rhinoceros isn't strange enough, we soon discover that it is actually the townspeople who are turning into rhinoceroses- by choice! As everyone around him begins to transform into wild beasts, our main character, Berenger, is left wondering what it really means be to be human- and whether or not he wants to remain human.
