Time has not been kind to ‘Same Time, Next Year’ Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics While clearly not Actors’ Summit’s intention, it is impossible to sit through Bernard Slade’s “Same Time, Next Year” and not feel as if you’ve just binge-watched vintage sitcoms on Nick at Nite. This should come as no surprise considering that the playwright spent 17 years as a writer for network television before penning this play, his first, in 1975. Sebastian: A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is tasked with taking care of the rebellious Ariel. Each student will not only STAR onstage in the production, but also will also contribute to the direction, choreography, set, lighting and costume design of the production. Students will be assigned a mentor from the Mercury Theatre Company 2016 Staff and will work as assistants on a specific “behind-the-scenes” area of their interest. My Mercury! is designed to instill in aspiring thespians a deeper understanding about producing and participating in a first-class musical with working professionals. The Gates Mills Players is looking for Tech help for our upcoming play of "Harvey". Production date: March 11 thru March 26 weekends. We need 2 people. A person able to run a simple light board and a sound tech that can help with sound effects, sound ques and run the sound board. Light Board Operator: Need to be at rehearsals, Tech Sunday and all performances. We are doing 8 performances. Need to be able to help set up lighting fixtures and plan out lighting ques with director and crew. Sound Board Tech: Need to be at rehearsals, Tech Sunday and all performances. Playwrights Local 4181 Announces Open Auditions for TO THE ORCHARD Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, 7-10pm Dancing Wheels Company and School (Masonic Auditorium) Playwrights Local 4181, a new company dedicated to supporting the dramatists of Northeast Ohio, will be holding open auditions for TO THE ORCHARD, a world-premiere play by Les Hunter, at the above date and time. Performance dates are May 26-28 and June 2-4 at the Waterloo Arts in Collinwood, with a third weekend to follow at a TBA location in the eastern suburbs. In *To the Orchard*, college student Rachel Bergman is propelled to reveal her sexual identity to her conservative father, who has hidden his own past from the family for years. An orthodox rabbi, a queer studies professor, and the spirits of Robert Plant and Virginia Woolf inhabit this slightly magic-realist play about family, making mistakes, retribution and coming clean.
