10 Most Memorable Moments in Cleveland Theater, 2015 Edition Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics When we reflect back on a live theatrical production, it is usually a specific moment that we recall – an instant when a playwright’s idea, a director’s vision, or an actor’s performance surpasses an audience’s expectations. Such moments seem frozen in time and suspended in space. It is these isolated, elusive and brilliant moments that keep theatergoers coming back for more, year after year, and win over the next generation of patrons. Theatrical missteps and creative miscarriages are similarly memorable and, for the audience if not the performers or production staff, they are just as entertaining. Awe can be found in work both awesome and awful. Here are ten of this past year’s most memorable moments – both fantastic and unfortunate – from productions that have graced Cleveland’s stages. Rubber City Shakespeare Company is casting non-equity actors for its spring production of Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. The following roles are available: Radames Amonasro Male Ensemble (Nubians/Ministers/Soliders) Female Ensemble (Nubians/Handmaidens) *Second Round of Auditions are December 15 & 16 from 6:30pm-9:00pm and are held at the Summit Artspace 140 E. Market St. Second Floor Akron, OH 44308.* The production runs February 12-28, Thursday- Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees. Rehearsals begin January 10 through February 11, from 6:30-10pm (Sunday-Thursday) with the exception of tech week which is 6-11pm. Please sign up for an audition on our website and prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre or Elton John song, and prepare to learn a small dance combination. This is a non-equity production but stipends will be paid to actors in the production. Radames An Egyptian Captain and the son of Zoser. A strong, handsome, adventurous soldier who falls in love with Aida. Male, 20-28 yrs old Range: B3 - G5 Amonasro An honorable and peaceful man who is imprisoned by Egypt. The King of Nubia and father to Aida. Male, 40-55 yrs old.
