Do you want a FREE Sony 70" HDTV? It is an 8 year old Sony HD 1080 projection TV, Model # KDS-R70XBR2 and it is in excellent condition. Beck Center for the Arts Youth Theater, one of the oldest continuously running Youth Theaters in the country, will be holding auditions on September 19 & 20, 2015 for the first production of our 67th Anniversary Season: A Little Princess >From the story Sara Crewe by Frances Hodgson Burnett Adapted by June Walker Rogers Directed by Jenna Messina The Story: Sara Crewe is one of the most beloved fictional heroines, and June Walker Rogers has brought her to life in this funny, sad, wonderfully imaginative adaptation. In this story, from the same author of The Secret Garden, audiences will identify with Sara as she begins her adventures in "Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies"; laugh with her as she brings happiness to others; weep with her as her fortune changes from rich girl to poor orphan; and rejoice with her when strange events bring still another reversal of her destiny. Audition/Callback dates: (open to Beck Center students ages 6 to 19*) Saturday, September 19: 3:00 to 6:00pm & Sunday, September 20: 1:00 to 4:00pm Callbacks: Monday, September 21 from 5:00 to 7:30pm Starting Wednesday, September 9, you may sign up for a one-hour audition slot at Beck Center Customer Service or by calling 216-521-2540 x10. *Please note: Youth Theater roles are only eligible to students who will be enrolled in our Fall 2015 semester. The Addams Family MusicalatBroadview Heights Spotlights’ The Broadview Heights SpotlightsCommunity Theater’s production of the musical, The Addams Family, willrun September 18 through October 4, 2015. Friday, and Saturdayperformances are at 7:30PM; Sunday matinees on September 27 and October 4 beginat 3:00PM. All shows will be at the Broadview Heights Cultural ArtsBuilding (Spotlights Theater), 9543 Broadview Road, next to the Police Station.Tickets are $14 for adults and $13 for seniors and students. Reservationsmay be made on-line at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org The musical version features thewell-known macabre characters of the movies from the 1990s, which were based onthe television series of the 1960s, which was based on cartoons originallypublished in The New Yorker in the 1930s and 1940s. Openingin 2010, the original Broadway production starred Nathan Lane and BebeNeuworth. With an original storyline, the musical tells how Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess ofdarkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young manfrom a respectable Ohio family. She confides in her father and begs him not totell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never donebefore — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything changeson a fateful night when they host a dinner for Wednesday’s 'normal' boyfriendand his parents. The Spotlights’ production features avery talented cast of local actors, including Broadview Heights residents RyanBergeron and Melanie Hauer as Gomez and Morticia Addams. Their children,Wednesday and Pugsley, are played by Courtney Hostettler and JamesNewton. Rounding out the Addams’ clan are Kevin Cline as Fester, PeggyNewton as Grandma, and Daryl Kelley as Lurch. The cast alsofeatures Keith Joritz, Pam Matthews, and Tim Schurger as the visiting Beinekefamily. Rounding out the cast are an ensemble of ghostly Addams’ancestors: Adam Bowers, Delia Brennan, Tara Corkery, Lexi Frendak, DylanGrosh, Natalie Joritz, Maggie Majercik, Daniel Weddell, and Decklin Newton. The Spotlights’ production team isdrawing on the long history of these characters and their various incarnationsfor inspiration for sets, props, and costumes. “These characters are sowell-known in American culture, largely because they represent an interestingcounter-culture. The musical version is very funny, but very touching,too. Our goal is to emphasize the love that all families have, no matterwhat they look like to others,” says the director, Tim Anderson who is also theEducation Director for the Spotlights, and a Broadview Heights resident.
