Four free workshops will include discussions about skills critical to artists' application and proposal writing skill sets to support their efforts in applying for a Creative Workforce Fellowship<http://cultureforward.org/Our-Programs/Fellowship> and other future opportunities. The third workshop, taking place Wednesday, July 15th from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Happy Dog At The Euclid Tavern will feature attorney George Carr, who will provide an overview of fair use practices as related to grant applications and other potential work. This information will be particularly geared toward performing and media artists sampling or interpreting material from an original artist, but artists in all disciplines can apply the information. Every workshop will also include information about the application and review process for those interested in applying for a Creative Workforce Fellowship. Auditions for "Death By Design" at Huntington Playhouse

Huntington Playhouse will hold auditions for the mystery/comedy "Death By Design" on Monday July 27 & Tuesday July 28 at 7:00 PM at the theatre. The production will be directed by David MacKeigan and it will run from Sept. 17 to Oct.11. The Story: Edward Bennett, a playwright, and his wife Sorel Bennett, an actress, flee London and head to Cookham after a disastrous opening night. But various guests arrive unexpectedly – a conservative politician, a fiery socialist, a nearsighted ingenue, a zany modern dancer – each with a long-held secret. When one of the guests is murdered, it’s left to Bridgit, the feisty Irish maid with a macabre interest in homicide, to solve the crime. The casting requirements: Four females and four males with an age range of 20's and older. English accents are requested of all performers and one of the female roles requires an Irish accent. The audition will be consist of cold readings from the script. There are no parts for children or teens. Huntington Playhouse is located at 28601 Lake Road in Bay Village, Ohio and is an affiliate of the Cleveland Metroparks.

The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second Tuesday of each month. The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. It offers a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a supportive, yet critical environment. *Tuesday, July 14th* The Church at CPT (Just east of the Gordon Square Theatre Box Office) Cleveland Public Theatre 6407 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102 *7:00pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space is limited). Writers names will be drawn randomly at 7:15pm to determine whose work will be presented. Writers can bring up to 10 pages of work to be read; actors will be cast on the spot! *7:30pm:* Open Mic Session readings begin *And don't forget - FREE Great Lakes Beer!* Suggested donation of $5 is welcomed at the door, but not required. Top 10 tips to get grants for your nonprofit, July 30 seminar provides advice for securing funds KIRTLAND, Ohio –July 14, 2015 - The Lakeland Community College Nonprofit and Public Service Center will host “Introduction to Finding Grants: A Field Guide and So Much More!” Thursday, July 30 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. on the college's main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland 44094, in the A Building, room A-2100. Sign-in, refreshments, and networking begin at 8 a.m. The $45 registration fee includes materials and a continental breakfast. This workshop is designed to meet the needs of those who are new to grantseeking as well as more experienced grantseekers who are looking for new ideas and information. Participants will learn the 10 most important things they need to know about finding grants, including: who funds nonprofits and what their motivations are; what funders really want to know about the organizations they are interested in funding; how to identify potential funders and make the first approach; and how to conduct online grant research. Capping this valuable session, will be an interactive discussion with outstanding panelists who will offer both the grantmaker's and the grantseeker's perspective.
