About the Summer Theatre CAMPs “Children are at their most creative when they are invited to see the world as their own giant playground." This is the philosophy of Wandering Aesthetics’ Storyteller and Education Director, Kyle Jozsa. He gives children the opportunity to create and tell their stories in a fun and safe environment. Jozsa will introduce the students to important theatrical concepts including stage presence, character creation and teamwork. Together, using basic fairytale story structure, Jozsa and his classes will create and present their own story. Each two-week long summer camp will introduce students to the basics of live performance. In the morning, in his engaging style, Jozsa will teach students the fundamentals of theatre. In the afternoon, students will collaborate to craft a fairy tale of their choosing in an atmosphere of cooperation and playfulness, culminating in a final performance for friends and family. Students should bring a brown bag lunch. About the Instructor: Drawing on a work ethic derived from his path to Eagle Scout, Kyle Jozsa co-founded the physically oriented theatre company, Wandering Aesthetics. Kyle serves as Wandering Aesthetics’ Co-Artistic Director, Education Director and primary Storyteller. His responsibilities include: shaping the vision of the company, devising and performing new pieces of theatre and designing, implementing and teaching curricula. Kyle participated in an intensive summer training program at Double Edge Theatre in Asheville, MA. He recently made the transition to solo performer with Wandering Aesthetics’ “Mountain Cycle” – a series of 3 one-man performances about his hike of the 2,186-mile Appalachian Trail. Kyle has been teaching children ages 2 - 14 for the past 5 years; they constantly inspire him. *HATHAWAY BROWN THEATRE INSTITUTE* * SUMMER 2015 * *Still Time to Register for Summer Training * Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI), a conservatory-based summer theatre training program for young performers in Northeast Ohio, is still accepting registrations this summer's training programs and productions HBTI, a part of the Performing Arts Department at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, offers young people a challenging curriculum of drama, dance and/or music, as well as the opportunity to participate in fully staged productions. HBTI boasts instructors who are some of the top professional actors, directors, choreographers, designers and academics in the area, and who have a long list of successful former students who have gone on to Broadway, film and television. The program utilizes similar training techniques to those employed by the nation's most preeminent drama schools, including Julliard, NYU and the Actor's Studio. HBTI offers programs on two levels: *Prime* (Grades 1 – 4) *Performing Arts Training* (Grades 5 – college). Classes are available in two 3-week sessions and one 2-week session, beginning June 15, July 6 and July 27, respectively. While the training at HBTI is geared toward the young performer interested in a professional theatre career, all students gain confidence, discipline and social skills that help give them an edge in this highly competitive world, no matter what their eventual field of pursuit. The students also find the process immensely fun, exciting and rewarding. Over the past two summers, over 300 students have studied acting, musical theatre and dance at HBTI. This summer new advanced acting workshops (high school and college) have been added to challenge the more experienced students.Spaces still available in *Acting through Play Production *with Michael Dempsey, *Shakespeare* with Lara Knox and *Acting for the Camera* with Dan Hendrock. HBTI will also mount three full productions: *Rent* (July 3 – 12), *Little Women* (July 17– 26), and *Oklahoma!* (July 31 – August 9. The shows allow the students to apply the tools and techniques they learn during the day in productions mounted by top professional directors and designers.
