Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue Live at the Library with George Foley on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2 pm at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281. Focusing on the 1920s, George Foley and the EEJ Trio will perform and tell us about stride piano, ragtime, and the roots of jazz music. This program is free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call 419-853-6016. About the Musicians George Foley started playing ragtime at the age of 13. He received most of his musical education at the Cleveland Music School Settlement, where he studied piano, theory, composition and jazz improvisation. He attended the College of Wooster, where he hosted a weekly ragtime radio show and played piano for the Wooster Jazz Ensemble. He was awarded the Charles V. Rychlik Composition Award by the Cleveland Music School Settlement for his “Chinatown Rag” in 1974. He released his first album “Cleveland Rag” on Century-Advent Records in 1977. It was re-issued on the Jazzology label in 1980. Eric Everett (EEJ Trio) has four decades of drumming experience, studying privately at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory and performing in Case Western Reserve University’s small group Jazz and Big Band ensembles. Eric leads the “Firelands Trio” and “Elation” R&B band and performs as a sideman with the Cliff Habian Trio and George Foley Quartet. “Everything old is new again”—can still hold true— So don’t turn away when *Tartuffe*, the current Cleveland Play House production, is described as a “classic French farce.” It is and it isn’t. Ranjit Bolt’s updated translation of Molière*’s *17th-century satire, * Tartuffe*, directed by Jason O’Connell, sets the story in 1980s sitcom land. The characters’ outlandish reactions mock fashion and reaction, teens and adults, greed, and vanity, and, well—everything. ****************** *Bottom Line: CPH offers a lively engaging production of an old old story. Mighty Goliath Productions is officially opening director pitches for our *2027 season*, and we could not be more excited to see what ideas are out there. If you’ve ever had a show you’ve dreamed of directing—or a vision you’ve been waiting for the right moment to bring to life—this is it. MGP is a one-of-a-kind experience. Each year, we bring together a cast of over 100 performers in a no-cut, fully inclusive production that is built entirely by volunteers. Directors, performers, musicians, designers—everyone is here because they love creating something meaningful together. Because of that, we’re looking for directors who are not just excited about a show, but ready to lead it. This year, our process puts a little more focus on vision and preparation. We’ll ask you to share your ideas for the show along with a simple, early plan for how you’d bring it to life. Nothing polished or final—just a clear sense of your direction and leadership. The pitch meeting will take place on *Friday, May 15 from 6–10 pm at St. Joseph’s Parish in Avon Lake*, and each director will have a 30-minute time slot. YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) will present the Ohio premiere of the hit Broadway musical, Mean Girls the Musical at the Youngstown Playhouse (600 Playhouse Lane Youngstown, OH 44511) for a 2 weekend run, with performances running April 17-19, 24-26. Mean Girls is a musical based on the 2004 cult-hit movie of the same name by Tina Fey. The story follows homeschooled student Cady Heron. Cady may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung. Director Joe Asente said he is excited that MTC was able to bring this premiere production to the stage, “We have been waiting for the release of this show for ages. Every generation has its quintessential high school movie that explains what high school was like for that generation. Mean Girls was the definitive high school movie of our generation. It was also a movie that gained cult status due to its memorable quotes and one-liners. There are even people who use quotes from the movie in their daily speech who have no idea that their commonly-used phrase started right here in Mean Girls! Despite its Millennial roots, the film has truly become a touchstone of American culture, and we could not be more excited to be the first ones to bring this story to life on stage in our area.” Asente continued that Mean Girls the Musical truly has something for everyone, “A lot of these shows that are set in high school have a tendency to be kind of one dimensional and too cookiecutter. Mean Girls truly breaks the mold in several ways. For example, it has some incredible music that is very different from the pop-sound of many high school-based shows, and, most importantly, it is one of the funniest musical comedies of the last decade.” The musical, written by Tina Fey and her husband Jeff Richmond, recently enjoyed an extremely successful Broadway run and several national tours. MTC is among the first community theatres in the nation to produce the show.
