Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances - this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal! Kent Trumbull Theatre is holding an open casting call for all roles for our November 2024 production of Legally Blonde The Musical. Ages 16+. NOTES ON INTIMACY Theatrical intimacy is defined as any action on stage where the circumstances of the scene or production calls for touch, either physical or imaginative, or moments between actors of simulated sexuality or sexual violence. Kent Trumbull Theatre is dedicated to navigating these moments to incorporate safer practices and risk-aware decision making throughout the process. All intimacy work will be rooted in consent and safety, will follow established protocols, and be used in service to the story. Must be comfortable being kissed on stage. EMMETT FORREST [Male, Tenor] A smart, sensitive, and sometimes sarcastic law student who mentors Elle. He should be charming, a bit nerdy, lovable, and friendly. He’s worked his entire life to get into Harvard Law, and nothing will come between him and becoming a partner in Callahan's law firm, except maybe his surprising love for Elle.Must be comfortable being kissed on stage. PAULETTE BUONAFONTE [Female, Mezzo-Soprano Belt] Paulette is the funny owner of Hair Affair, a local salon. She becomes friends with Elle and longs to marry a man from Ireland. She and Elle help each other achieve their dreams! Must be willing to be kissed on stage. A Bostonian accent is a plus. This actor should be a strong singer with a powerful belt to match her personality! PROFESSOR CALLAHAN [Male, Tenor] A pompous, smooth, authoritative, and manipulative law professor. He has a reputation for being an extremely strict and tough professor and a highly successful lawyer. He will do anything to get what he wants, regardless of morality. Actor should be comfortable with a stage kiss. WARNER HUNTINGTON III [Male, Tenor] Good-looking and charming, yet shallow and self-absorbed. Warner breaks up with Elle to go to Harvard Law. He only sees Elle as a bubbly dumb blonde, and doesn’t think she is serious enough to settle down with. He cares deeply about his reputation. Actor must be comfortable with a stage kiss. VIVIENNE KENSINGTON [Female, Mezzo-Soprano Belt to G#5] A smart, serious, and uptight law student, seemingly the polar opposite of Elle. She comes from a very conservative East Coast background and is everything that Warner needs to make a serious move to become a lawyer. When she becomes Warner’s fiancée, she initially dismisses Elle, but grows to become her friend. Must be comfortable being kissed on stage.. BROOKE WYNDHAM [Female, Mezzo-Soprano to G#5] An exercise video tycoon who is an alum of Elle’s sorority. She is energetic and charismatic, yet currently on trial for her husband’s murder. Dance skills are a must for this role to properly do high level aerobics with enough stamina to continue singing. ENID HOOPS [Female, Soprano/Mezzo Belter] Enid is a strong, passionate, and outwardly feminist law student at Harvard, who is skeptical of Elle, and eventually becomes her friend. Must have great comedic timing and be able to patter- sing clearly. SERENA, MARGOT, AND PILAR [Females, Soprano/Mezzo/Alto] These three ladies are Elle’s trio of best friends and sorority sisters, who help her navigate the story by acting as a “Greek Chorus”. Serena is an energetic cheerleader. Margot is the seemingly dim-witted sorority sister. Pilar is the sassy and sensible one. They should make a complementary, dynamic group. Auditions will be held Thursday, August 15 from 6-9pm and Saturday, August 17 from 12-3pm at Hopewell Theatre (702 Mahoning Avenue). Auditioners should prepare a 30-60 second cut of a song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. Seeking a diverse cast of actors ages 17+. All roles are open. Please come prepared to do a cold reading. Headshot and resume are encouraged, but not required. The American tribal love rock musical HAIR celebrates the sixties counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded and fringed glory. To an infectiously energetic rock beat, the show wows audiences with songs like "Aquarius," "Good Morning, Starshine," "Hair," "I Got Life" and "Let The Sunshine In." Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, HAIR remains relevant as ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world. The Millennial Theatre Project presents "Say It Loud" - a powerful collection of real stories depicting the African American experience of living in Akron, Ohio. We are currently seeking two talented black female actors to join our upcoming tour. This non-union opportunity offers compensation for both rehearsal time and performances. Our tour is scheduled to encompass 4 shows between November 10th and November 23rd of this year. Solon Center for the Arts is accepting applications for a part-time Instructor to fill the position of Musical Director for upcoming musical theater productions. Instructors lead and act as a role model to a group of participants in a specific area of the performing/fine arts. Instructors develop, implement and engage participants in classes, lessons, workshops, performances, pop-up events, etc. in their specific field/specialty. Primary tasks and responsibilities for this position include: • Attend auditions and collaborate on casting with the show director and choreographer. Music Director must accompany students at auditions with music selections chosen by Show Director. • Attend creative team meetings with Director and Choreographer to develop the overall vision of the show. • Plan, prepare and attend rehearsals. Adhere to a teaching schedule set by the director or Theater Coordinator. • Lead vocal warm ups and exercises, as well as teach entire music vocal score to the cast. • Accompany cast on piano during first half of rehearsals, as sound tracks will be used for the second half of rehearsals and for performances (no conducting, no musicians) • Instruct and manage a group of approximately 8 – 25 students. This position is for approximately 2 - 4 hours per week with additional hours for tech week and performances. • Fall/Winter Production Rehearsals | Grades 6 - 8 o Wednesday Evenings and/or Saturday Mornings • Winter/Spring Production Rehearsals | Grades 4 & 5 o Tuesday Evenings and/or Thursday Evenings • Additional hours required for tech week and performances of Main Stage Shows (Performances are middle/end of November and early April.) • Summer Camp hours for Musical Theater Camp may be included in June & July Qualified applicants must have two years of teaching experience as a Musical Director (Theater) or Choir Director. Bachelor’s degree in Music, Theater or Music Education from an accredited institution preferred. Candidates for this position will work closely with the Theater Department Coordinator and must be able to work with students of all ages and skill levels, with a specific focus on youth grades 4 – 8. Applicants must be professional and display leadership qualities in and out of the classroom and may be the lead instructor during rehearsals. In addition, the applicant should possess excellent problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be able to work in a team environment. This position offers a starting rate from $28.00/hour. Compensation will be determined based upon previous education, performance, and teaching experience. As they engage in a provocative and intense audition, the roles blur between actor and director, and reality intertwines with the play's script, leading to a compelling examination of dominance, submission, and the nature of desire.
