Amherst's Sandstone Summer Theatre is celebrating 55 years and is excited to open *Legally Blonde The Musical **this Thursday, July 11 through Saturday, July 13!* The production features a cast of 42 performers, 15+ crew, and 7 musicians from all over Lorain and Cuyahoga County. Audition Dates: Tuesday July 16 or Wednesday July 17th Time: 7:30pm-10:00pm What to prepare: Readings will be from the script. Select one or two monologues from the below link to perform at your audition. A headshot and resume is appreciated but not required. Audition Location: Blank Canvas Theatre 1305 78th Street, Suite 211 (at 78th Street Studios) Cleveland, OH 44102 The Story A new look at an American classic that remains as chilling and timely as it was in 1953. Based on events which took place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, this tragedy tells the story of a village that becomes embroiled in a witch hunt. A group of girls are caught dancing in the forest by the local minister and rumors of witchcraft fill the Puritan town. Deceit, adultery, and fear push the town to the limit and, in the end, the one who tells the truth in hopes of redemption pays the ultimate price. * Please note that the concept for this production will focus on our current society, social media, cancel culture, and how the events of the Salem witch trials are still relevant today. While we will be costuming and designing this show in present day, there will be NO changes to Arthur Miller's original text. Since this production concept will not be the traditional 1692 specific time period, ALL ROLES (other than John Proctor) are open to ANY age, gender, and race. Though, we are looking to cast actors over 18 years of age, we may make an exception for certain roles. Auditions for The Music Man! September 8th& 9th We are pleased to announce that The Hudson Players are holding auditions for the musical The Music Man: Book, Music and Lyrics by Meredith Willson. Based on a story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey. Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International. Auditions are: September 8 & 9 beginning at 7pm. Directed by Claudia Lillibridge, auditions will be held at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St in Hudson. Performances: November 1,2,8,9,10*,15,16,17*,22,23; 2024. (Sunday November 10 & 17 are special 2:00 pm matinees). Audition overview and additional information available below and at www.hudsonplayers.com. Our Sunday auditions will begin at 5pm for any children that wish to try-out for the show. We have a limited number of roles available for children under the age of eight. However, we encourage all enthusiastic performers to audition! Harold Hill, a smooth-talking salesman with a knack for deception, arrives in River City, Iowa, with a scheme to exploit the town's naivete. He convinces them to invest in instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he promises to lead, despite his complete lack of musical knowledge. His plan to pocket the money and disappear is thrown off course when he unexpectedly falls for Marian, the librarian. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist and prepare at least a 16-bar audition song. Auditions may also include a movement exercise and reading from the script. The Hudson Players are an all volunteer award winning, community theatre. All roles in our productions are always open to auditioners, with no restrictions. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. Auditions usually last at least two hours and while it is best to be there at the beginning, those with schedule restrictions can come later. Those interested in working backstage, on sets, lights, etc., are encouraged to come to auditions as well and fill out a form letting the producer know their areas of interest.
