On Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 6:00 pm and Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 3:00 pm, The Fine Arts Association presents TWO Gospel Music Historical Society performances as part of our BELONG series of musically theatrical concerts. Committed to preserving Cleveland’s rich history of spreading the Gospel through music, the Gospel Music Historical Society presents a musical showcase on FAA’s stage. Under the direction of Aftra/SAG affiliate, vocalist, composer, and choral conductor, Carlton Fellows, this production is sure to stir your soul as Mr. Fellows brings over four decades of experience in serving as music director to myriad church demonstrations in the greater Cleveland area. Through education, event programming, networking, and workshops GMHS encourages and supports the success of GMHS Gospel artists. Clague Playhouse announces upcoming auditions for its production of OPUS, by Michael Hollinger. *Show Dates: *January 24-February 16, 2024 *The Story: *After firing one of their founding members due to his erratic behavior, a world-class string quartet takes a chance on a gifted but relatively inexperienced young woman. With only a few days to rehearse a grueling Beethoven masterpiece, the four struggle to prepare their highest-profile performance ever—a televised ceremony at the White House. Their rehearsal room becomes a pressure-cooker as passions rise, personalities clash, and the players are forced to confront the ephemeral nature of their life’s work. Recipient of the Barrymore Award for Outstanding New Play, a Steinberg New Play Citation from the American Theatre Critics Association, and nominations for Lucille Lortel and John Gassner Awards for Best New Play. *Character Breakdown:* *ELLIOTT,* 40s, male-identifying, any race. Attention creatives and artists! NAMI Greater Cleveland is excited to announce a community event celebrating the arts and mental health, and we want YOU to be a part of it! "Hope N Mic" is funded in partnership by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture and will be held Saturday June 29th from 11:00am-3:00pm with performances running 12:00-3:00pm at Wade Oval. This event will feature a diverse range of art forms including music, dance, poetry, spoken word, and visual art, to provide a platform for artists and community partners to showcase their gifts and inspire conversations about how we can utilize the arts to break down stigma and create a more inclusive and understanding community for those impacted by mental health. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score, augmented with dynamic new songs, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.
