Louis Mustillo (Mike & Molly, The Sopranos) brings you Bartenders: the ultimate tribute to the men who serve as friend, father, psychotherapist, and ego-booster to our cocktail-drinking nation. Every drink has a story. Characters: Bobby – Bartender for 32 yrs. Knows the trade inside and out. Smart. In command. Tough, but not a jerk. Good guy who doesn’t mess around. Like in the script, he’s giving the new kid a shot. It’s 9:30am, Midtown, upscale establishment. Richard – Good-hearted, sweet guy. If he didn’t bartend, he would be a writer or an artist. He is a bartender though and he’s quite fine with that. Loves New York more than anyone. He’s a good friend. Will do anything for you. Smart with his money but not cheap. He’s a romantic. Keith Stiver. This is a one act comedy with an all-female cast. Auditions will be held on the afternoon of March 3, at the theatre, from 1:00 to 3:00. Readings will be taken from the script. If needed, additional dates will be announced. The play will run simultaneously with The Bartenders, the first three weekends of May 2024. The script describes the play (in part) as follows: Six of the most noted of Shakespeare’s heroines convene at the home of Juliet in Verona. They are, in addition to Juliet, Portia from The Merchant of Venice, Katharine from The Taming of the Shrew, Desdemona from Othello, Ophelia from Hamlet, and Cleopatra from Antony and Cleopatra. Juliet has just fallen in love with Romeo and the other five visit to instruct her in the art of successfully carrying out her romance. The characters: Juliet – aged between 18 and 25. Optimistic, but practical. She is also dubious about the advise she is receiving. Portia – aged 30+. Very “legal” in demeanor. Desdemona – aged 25 - 30. Young and starry-eyed from being “smothered with affection”. Cleopatra – aged 30 - 35. Very much a siren. Ophelia – aged 30+. Mad and dithery. Katharine – aged 40+. Strong and “shrewish”. The director is seeking as diverse a cast as possible. All ethnicities and physical types are encouraged to audition. Funny, touching, philosophical and musical — above all musical — this Beck Center and Baldwin Wallace collaboration is a delightful, witty creation. *Cleveland Public Theatre Announces Auditions for STEP 2024, celebrating 30 years of empowering artmaking!* *CPT’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) is a rigorous arts-based program* that provides hands-on job training and engages youth from Cleveland families in a powerful learning experience that develops job skills, academic achievement, and interpersonal skills. As part of this eight-week summer program, youth ages 14-19 work together to create, produce, perform, and tour their own play. This program is the longest-running arts-based workplace development program in Cleveland and is an international model for engaging youth. Since its beginning in 1994, STEP has received multiple awards and recognitions including those from the City of Cleveland, The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Through STEP, teens see themselves as a positive and inspirational force and watch as their work has an impact on the larger Cleveland community. STEP is a Paid Artistic Opportunity. This year’s program will run from *June 10th-August 4th, Monday-Friday from 11:00am-5:00pm. This is a temporary full-time position. Position begins *June 3rd, 2024 and ends no later than August 9th, 2024.* The STEP Teaching Artist salary is $600/wk, and the STEP Tech Assistant role earns between $500-600 per week. Set salaries are based on a candidate’s experience and range of skills. ------------------------------ *JOB DESCRIPTION* CPT is hiring Teaching Artists for the Student Theatre Enrichment Project. This role reports to Artistic and Education Associate, who serves as the Program Director for STEP. The STEP Teaching Artists are integral in guiding young artists in the creation of an original performance which tours throughout the greater Cleveland area. Teaching Artists additionally support the Technical Director and Associate Technical Director in the supervision of a group of teenagers (STEP Tech Team) implementing the set and sound needs for an outdoor touring show, including a basic sound system and typically, a 16’ x 20’ stage. The STEP Tech Assistant supports 6 hours of daily instruction in technical theatre skills and assists in supervising teens while building scenic elements. The position may require some extended hours but will average 35-40 hours a week. CPT summer programming will include up-to-date safety precautions for artists, staff, and patrons. ------------------------------ *PROGRAM DESCRIPTION* CPT’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) is an arts-based job training program that engages Cleveland teens in a powerful, 8-week intensive (4 weeks for Tech Team students) that focuses on excellence in performance, play creation, physical theatre, writing, production, and set design/construction. Students aged 14-19, presenting a wide range of performance experience, are eligible for participation and earn money while learning and practicing valuable job skills such as timeliness, communication, commitment, and teamwork. Under the guidance of CPT artists, teens develop an original play and then tour it to public greenspaces, theatres, and community organizations throughout the city of Cleveland. Since its beginning in 1994, STEP has received multiple awards and recognitions, including those from the City of Cleveland, The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Celebrating 30 years of empowering artmaking, STEP is the longest-running arts-based, job-training program in Cleveland and has been utilized as an international model for engaging youth. STEP ensembles, comprised primarily of Black and Brown artists, see themselves as a positive and inspirational force and are able to witness their work’s invaluable impact on the larger Cleveland community. Hathaway Brown Theatre Instistute (HBTI) is now accepting resumes for the following positions; Director, Choreographer, Designers (Costume, Set, Lighting, Sound), Technical Director, and Stage Manager. These are paid positions. Designers may work on multiple design elements. HBTI is presenting Seussical: The Musical. Rehearsals begin early June, Opens July 25. Rehearsals are afternoon/evenings. HBTI is a youth summer theatre program through the Hathaway Brown School summer program. Every summer HBTI mounts a full-scale musical. All roles are cast through the audition process. The work takes as its starting point the cantata *“Ad manus”* (“To the hands”) from *Dietrich Buxtehude*’s *Membra Jesu nostri* (The Limbs of our Jesus).
