Talespinner Children's Theatre is seeking an actor who is Asian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander ages 18+ of any gender for a role in our upcoming musical production of Last Stop on Market Street. This performer will play Mr. Chow, along with other roles outlined below (all actors in this production will play multiple roles). Talespinner Children's Theatre is a professional theatre for young audiences. "Last Stop on Market Street" is a musical adaptation of the multi-award-winning children's book by Matt de la Pena. ROLES: MR. DENNIS (He/Him) 40'ish (can be played by a range of ages) loves his job, playful bus driver, singer TATTED MAN, (He/Him), (can be played by a range of ages) bus passenger covered in tattoos that is tired of people making assumptions about him because of his appearance. He enjoys volunteering every weekend at the zoo making animal balloons. Singer/Rapper MADAM BUTTERFLY, (She/Her), (can be played by a range of ages) a woman dressed like a butterfly, ethereal almost like a human fairy, bus passenger VERNON, (He/Him) (can be played by a range of ages) a blind bus passenger, loves music and philosophy its that “music's hidden in plain sight and you'll notice if you pay attention” singer MR. CHOW, (He/Him), (can be played by a range of ages) (East Asian, Southeast Asian, Mixed Ethnicity, of AAPI heritage) soup kitchen patron in a wheelchair. Cleveland's Imposters Theater is excited to partner with TBD: The Improvised Musical from Hashtag Comedy Columbus to offer an ongoing musical improv workshop! *Details:* This workshop will meet twice a month. Saturdays 01/20, 02/17, and 03/02 12-3pm the group is led by Sarah Storer or one of the other veteran musical improv performer/instructors from TBD, Columbus's improvised musical. Novice Acting Instructor: For BEGINNERS acting course that studies a deep understanding of historical and social justice connections in the work selected. This approach focuses on how we look at art and culture to move forward. This fundamentals course focuses on building your “acting toolkit” and allows you to develop a strong foundation in approaching theatre through the exploration of theatre games, improvisation tools, and history. OPEN AUDITIONS: "Don’t Dress for Dinner" a comedy by Marc Camoletti Adapted by Robin Hawdon Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse, whilst his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to provide the alibi. It’s foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Well… suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited. Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will NOT leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress can’t cook. Suppose everyone’s alibi gets confused with everyone else’s. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed. She's determined to see Juliet married off to someone of good standing...like Paris. * Tybalt - (Male/Female, Late teens - 20s) - a Capulet, Juliet’s cousin on her mother’s side. Makes a genuine effort to defuse violent scenes in public, though Mercutio accuses him of having a nasty temper in private. * Paris - (Male, 20s-30s) - a kinsman of Prince Escalus and seeks to marry Juliet. Handsome, somewhat self-absorbed, and very wealthy. * The Nurse - (Male/Female, 30+) - Juliet’s nurse and closest friend. A vulgar, long-winded, and sentimental character, the Nurse provides comic relief with her frequently inappropriate remarks and speeches. * Prince Escalus - (Male/Female, 30s - 50s) - The Prince of Verona. A kinsman of Mercutio and Paris. As the seat of political power in Verona, he is concerned about maintaining the public peace at all costs. * Balthasar - (Male/Female, Any Age) - Romeo’s dedicated servant, who brings Romeo the news of Juliet’s death, unaware that her death is a ruse. * Abram - (Male, Late Teens - 30s) - Montague’s servant, who fights with Sampson and Gregory in the first scene of the play. * Apothecary - (Male/Female, 30+) - An apothecary in Mantua. Had he been wealthier, he might have been able to afford to value his morals more than money, and refused to sell poison to Romeo. * Peter - (Male, Late Teens - 30s) - A Capulet servant who invites guests to Capulet’s feast and escorts the Nurse to meet with Romeo. He is illiterate, and a bad singer. * Sampson - (Male/Female - Late Teens - 30s) - Servant of the house of Capulet, who, like their master, hate the Montagues. * Gregory - (Male/Female - Late Teens - 30s) - Servant of the house of Capulet, who, like their master, hate the Montagues. * Friar Laurence (Male, 30+) - a Franciscan friar, friend to both Romeo and Juliet.
