The Parma Symphony Orchestra will present their annual Christmas Concert on Sunday December 4 at 3:00 pm at Valley Forge High School located at 9999 Independence Blve., Parma Hts., Ohio 44130. The concert will feature a collection of Holiday Favorites: *It’s Christmas Time, March of the Toys from “Babes in Toyland” by Victor Herbert, Stille Nacht *by Chip Davis Mannheim Steam Roller, *Polar Express, *Leroy Anderson’s *Sleigh Ride *and *Suite of Carols *(featuring the wind, brass, and string sections) The orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Randoph P. St. James Catholic Church will continue its Sounds of St. James concerts with a special Festival of Nine Lessons and Carol on Saturday, December 17, at 7:30 pm. This will feature singers from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music accompanied on the organ by Adam Chlebek, St. James' music director performing Christmas works by Elgar, Lauridsen, Biebl, and Howells as well as a selection of classic traditional carols. The program will follow the Lessons and Carols format of nine short readings from scripture telling of the coming of the Messiah and the Nativity narratives of the Gospels, each followed by a musical selection. This will be followed by a Benediction and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament as well as refreshments downstairs. As always, the Sounds of Saint James concerts are free with any donations going to support the performers. Talespinner Children's Theatre Presents The Snowy Day and Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats Talespinner Children's Theatre is thrilled to present the Snowy Day and Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats, adapted for the stage by Jerome Hairston, and directed by Heather Utsler-Smith. The wonder of a fresh snowfall, the delight of whistling for the first time, the awe in finding a special treasure comes to life in this story that celebrates the joy in the small moments of a child’s world, and will feature puppetry, music, and dance that capture the beautiful spirit of the picture books. This family-friendly production is well suited for children ages 4 and up, and runs from December 3-18: Saturdays at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. An ASL interpreted performance will be on December 18th made possible by the HEARD. This will be Talespinner Children's Theatre's final season at the Reinberger Auditorium in Gordon Square before transitioning to a new space. Featuring local actors: Isaiah Betts, Sa’Renn Nikol, Maria V.J. Matthews, and Michael Martin, Costume design by Hannah Dougall, scenic design by Ren Twardzik, scenic painting by Carrie Williams, and light design by Josh Heidinger. Amiens Fowler and Kitty Wen are the Production Stage Managers. “Audiences will feel as though they have been transported right into Keats’ vibrant children’s books in The Snowy Day and Other Stories.
