The last (almost) two years have been tough on everybody. As you might be aware, every year we normally do a one month campaign asking for contributions in support of Neohiopal. Last year we decided not to do a formalized campaign at all since so many people and organizations were so adversely impacted economically. Even with no campaign for funds, some of you generously contributed anyway. Sunday, January Jan 30th 1-4 pm at the MorrisonDance rehearsal studio. MorrisonDance is seeking male and female dancers for their spring performance entitled "rEmergence." Performers will be paid a project stipend. College students will also be considered for a performance internship position with a stipend. All dancers must reserve a spot. In line with MorrisonDance’s goal to synthesize a breadth of dance styles, auditioning performers may have experience in any movement style; however, training in ballet, modern, and/or jazz techniques is preferred.Performers must be 18 or older and have reliable transportation and e-mail communication. An interest or experience in education is a plus.Weekly rehearsals will take place Sunday afternoons with anticipated June performances. Lake Erie College announces auditions for its spring production of FOOL FOR LOVE by Sam Shepard. Directed by Cameron Zona Auditions will consist of cold readings and light movement exercises from the script and will be held in the C.K. Rickel Theatre in Royce Hall at Lake Erie College on January 17th & 18th, 4:00-6:00 PM OR BY APPOINTMENT OR VIA ZOOM. ROLES AVAILABLE: EDDIE - 20s-40s. Both prideful and vulnerable. He has a drinking problem and believes deeply in emulating the myth of the American Cowboy. MAY - 20s-30s. Eddie’s lover. Determined and strong-willed. She matches Eddie’s energy with verbal assaults and power plays. THE OLD MAN - 50s-70s. Eddie and May’s father. He is an outside commentator on the events of the play with the perspective of an insider. MARTIN - 20s-40s. Simple and innocent. He acts as an audience to Eddie and May’s relationship as well as a representation of what May’s life might be like without Eddie. USA, 1926, Clarence Badger In his landmark 1975 book The Silent Clowns, critic Walter Kerr writes that Raymond Griffith, a largely forgotten silent-era comic actor, "seems to occupy a handsome fifth place-after Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd, and Langdon-in the silent comedy pantheon." The suave, mustachioed, unflappable Griffith, often attired in top hat and opera cape, uses his wits to extricate himself from disastrous situations. In his Civil War comedy and masterpiece Hands Up! (one of the few Griffith features to survive in its entirety), the dapper comedian plays a Confederate spy who tries to stop a gold shipment from reaching the Union army. This very funny film was added to the Library of Congress' National Film Registry in 2005, and Robert Sherwood, film critic for The NY Times during the 1920s, even regarded it as superior to Keaton's The General!
