2nd Act - Ohio Casting Notice Seeking Actors for Theatre Company focused on spreading awareness about Substance Use Disorder. Are you an actor looking for steady, part-time work? Do you want to work with a professional, mission-driven, touring theater company? 2nd Act is hiring actors who have the flexibility for shows throughout the year! Production Description: 2nd Act is a newly merged organization of Improbable Players (IP) and COAAST (Creating Outreach About Addiction Support Together) that has been using theater performances and workshops to address addiction and the opioid epidemic for the combined past 37+ years. Together they provide educational programming & workshops to youth across OH, MA, NY, and RI and work with schools, organizations, and other nonprofits to spread their message and support to a wide audience. Our performances are 30-40 minute plays followed by a 20-minute talkback and Q&A with the audience. These plays are based on true stories. We are casting actors to perform multiple roles in multiple shows. ● We require all of our actors to be in recovery from drug and alcohol use, or have a lived experience with substance use disorder (i.e. lived with family / significant other with substance use disorder, deeply affected by Substance Use Disorder) ● We do require all actors to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination prior to employment. ● We strongly encourage people of color, LGBTQIA+, and differently-abled people to audition! We are so excited to announce that we will be holding auditions for our first show of the season, *Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grille* *by Bruce Graham, directed by Judi Kaye!* Auditions will be held on *August 24th & 25th at 7pm* in the *Independence Community Theater building*. Auditions will include cold reads from the script. CALLING ALL DANCERS ages 18+, from the professionals to the beginners, if you're looking for a fun performance opportunity, to challenge yourself with a new style of dance or perfect an old one...or even just looking to make friends with other Cleveland dancers, come out for the eighth OPEN CALL placement audition, all levels of dance experience and all styles of dance welcome and encouraged! This audition process will allow dancers to meet the choreographers and audition for dances of their choice in a friendly group environment that will allow dancers to learn some basic choreography and display their own dance style and personality. We will do our best to place everyone who attends in at least one piece! You must be available for our showcase, tentatively on Saturday Nov 20 at Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School, as well as for tech and dress rehearsals on Thurs/Fri Nov 18 & 19 in the evening. REHEARSALS will be held once a week for 90 minutes, from September 9 to Nov 17. There is a $25 nonrefundable audition fee for all dancers. Payment will save your spot. Adult dancers ages 16+, join Cleveland Dance Project for the last in our summer class series: jazz with Mackenzi Bolyard-Pizana this Sunday at Above The Barre (1450 W Bagley Rd). 11:30am-1pm Beginner/Intermediate Technique 1-2:30pm Master Class Classes are $15 each or $25 for both. Pre-registration is highly recommended at www.clevelanddanceproject.com/classes *MACKENZI BOLYARD-PIZAñA,* originally from Akron, Ohio, is a dancer, choreographer, and educator. She began her training at age five with Bourn Academy of Dance in Green, Ohio under the direction of Judy Bourn. As part of the competition team, she was a national soloist winner with Rising Star Talent, Showstopper Dance, Nexstar Dance, and countless other competitions. Since 2013 Mackenzi has been furthering her dance training across the country and has danced in Ohio with Trutek Dance Company and choreographed for many NE Ohio Studios. Most recently she spent time traveling and working with the industry’s top choreographers and dancers including Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, Will Bell, Arielle Elonys, Mackenzie Martin, and Jessica Starr. She has both trained and performed in organizations such as with IAF Jazz Project, IMMABreathe, Academy of Villains, MusEffect, Shade Productions, Lucent Dossier, Geometry, and Six Flags Magic Mountain. For the past 10 years Mackenzi has also been furthering her choreography and teaching skills (technical and stylized) jazz, jazz funk, contemporary, lyrical, acrobatics, and contortion where she has been recognized and awarded nationally. As a choreographer her style has stemmed from her love of older music which allows for her artistry and movement quality to be influenced by the rock and soulful music and the singers' voices. Currently, she is a faculty member for Advocate Your Artistry Convention and Competition and performs nationally with the Chicago Honey Bears. In addition to dancing and teaching professionally, Mackenzi graduated from Hiram College with a BA in Spanish and Environmental Studies and is currently pursuing a Masters of Art in Teaching at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
