*CHORAL CONDUCTOR POSITION AVAILABLE*: The Vasa Voices of Cleveland consists of about 25 men and women, most of whom are members of the Vasa Order of America, a Swedish fraternal organization. We sing almost exclusively in Swedish, even though only a few among us are native Swedish speakers. Practices are weekly from September to June, typically on Monday evenings, at a church in Cleveland Heights. A pianist is available. We typically do two concerts per year, one in early June and one in early to mid-December in conjunction with the celebration of Lucia and Christmas. Long-term boyfriends Aaron and Marcus struggle with the question of monogamy. Stan discovers that his girlfriend Annie wants to take a break. When Stan and Marcus then meet online and hook up, the lives of these two couples become intriguingly entangled. Meanwhile Annie starts dating David, but she is also fooling around with Alice, who seems to come to the rescue when Mandy has a melt-down in this city with way too many options romantic or otherwise. The Happy Sad is directed by Tyson Douglas Rand, and features Ryan Edlinger, Jack Matuszewski, Ryan Mayer, Nate Miller, Ellie St. Cyr, Hillary Wheelock and Monica Zach. The Happy Sad opens this Fri, Oct. 2 and runs Thu-Sat at 8 pm through Oct. 24 at the Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd. in Clevelands historic Tremont neighborhood. Black Nativity is aretelling of the classic Nativity story with an entirely African American cast. Sung in gospelstyle, mingled with modern and classical dance styles. Originally written by LangstonHughes, the show was first performed Off -Broadway on December 11, 1961, and was oneof the fi rst plays written by an African American to be staged there. Th e show had a successfultour of Europe in 1962, one of its appearances being at the Spoleto Festival of TwoWorlds in Italy.Black Nativity has been performed annually in Boston, Massachusetts, atTremont Temple since 1969. Music, dance and drama transform the harsh realities of frontier life into a Legacy Quilt containing blocks of familiar patterns like the Lone Star, the Log Cabin and the Double Wedding Ring. The pieces of these women’s lives are stitched together with love, laughter and tenderness to tell a story of survival, fellowship and family values on the road West. As a compliment to the live theatre production, there will be a quilt exhibition inside Hugo Young Theatre. Featured quilts from the members of the local Old Uniontown Quilt Guild will be displayed throughout the theatre with additional quilts used on stage in the show. The staged musical production will feature junior musical theatre major Eryn Reynolds Tramel (Medina) as the family's matriarch, Sarah, with the remaining cast members portraying Sarah's six daughters along with a variety of other characters. The daughters are played by juniors Ariel McCleary (Stow), Andrea Disch (East Liverpool), and Logan Baker (Reynoldsburg); sophomores Gracie Fumic (Avon) and Hannah Wise (Hartville), and freshman Maya Rickard (Wooster). The show's music is grounded in the grassroots of old-time Americana including guitar, banjo and fiddle. Led by musical director and pianist Rowland Blackley, the orchestra includes Nate McFadden, keyboard; Jane Reed, violin; and Jeremey Poparad on guitar and banjo. Katie Zarecki is the choreographer and Eryn Reynolds Tramel serves as dance captain. The production's set and sound designs are created by Technical Director J. Michael Desper, while costumes are designed by junior theatre major Elizabeth Davis Newhouse (Solon); and lighting design is by Patty Lanious. Sophomore Jessica Dupee (Wellington) and freshman Shelby Teets are the show's stage manager and assistant stage manager, respectively.

URGENT Casting Short Film

I am a local Northeast Ohio independent filmmaker. I will be shooting a short film on October 10, 23, 24, 25. I am looking for actors who would like to be a part of my film. Looking to cast the parts this week! Please reply to email only ASAP! Do to the limited time from now till the shoot, we will not be holding auditions in the traditional sense. I am, however looking for headshots and demo reels if you have one. If I feel you fit my characters we will meet with you in person to discuss the project further. A bit about us and the project. We will be shooting the bulk of the film at a friends cabin down in West Virginia. The crew will be small, just me, my producer, and both of our wives. My producers family own about 50 acres of land in WV with two cabins on the property. Its just across the border from Marietta. We will be basically camping in the cabin for a couple of days (No Electricity) so this would have to be something the talent is ok with. Probably a three hour drive from the NEO area. The rest of the film will be shot in the NEO area. We will be providing transportation to and from the site as well as all meals. The film is very low budget, so any talent will be unpaid. However we are extremely motivated to make something we can all be proud of. Being that I own a small production company, I have all of the professional filmmaking equipment to put on a professional production. We are reaching out to find professional actors because I believe they are the missing link to making this project great. We are looking to shoot around the Canton area the weekend of October 10th and the cabin in WV on October 23, 24, and 25th. Here is a film trailer I did a couple years ago.
