NEEDED STAGE MANAGER AT CSA The Cleveland School of the Arts (CSA) is in need of an experienced stage manager for its annual Festival of New Works (funded by the CSA Board of Trustees). The Festival of New Works features original works by CSA high school student playwrights, composers, filmmakers, poets, and dancers. Responsibilities of the Stage Manager include: Participate in planning of all technical and performance elements of the Festival of New Works. Supervise all technical rehearsals for performance events (plays, dance pieces, musical performances, choreo-poems). Supervise Assistant Stage Mangers as they assist running technical rehearsals and performances of performance events. Work closely with student artists and CSA staff and report to the co-producers of the Festival of New Works. Rehearsal Dates and Times: February 13, 2017 to March 6, 2017 (Monday through Saturday). 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. (Note: This is the maximum commitment. Call times will vary depending on the day.) Performance Dates: School Shows: Tuesday through Friday, March 7, 8, 9 and 10, 2017: 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. Public Shows: Thursday and Friday, March 9 and March 10, 2017: 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12, 2017: 12:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Planning meetings: Mid-January, times TBD. Compensation commensurate with experience. Immediate casting call for a commercial shoot The writer/director of an apple commercial spot is an Ohio Media School project. I'm looking for diverse people to play in this apple style television commercial. The theme of this project is "Bringing People Together. This project is an unpaid and non-union. I'm looking to shoot this in Ohio City at the RTA station platform, either on Friday, December 23, 2016, Monday, December 26, or Tuesday December 27. I will be filming in the late afternoon around 3pm. on each of those days listed. Who I'm looking for, at least 10-15 people and any set of diversity in this project; I'm looking for a kid, who will play the lead character, a Hispanic character, Middle Eastern character, an Asian character, two African-American characters, and a Caucasian male and others to fill out the commercial. ABOUT THE PRODUCTION Things as They Are Written by David Todd Original score composed by Ben Chasny Directed by Anjanette Hall May 12 - 28, 2017 Reinberger Auditorium (Upstairs Loft) SYNOPSIS Things as They Are is a meditation on the life and work of American poet Wallace Stevens. A collage of scenes, poems, movement, and original music, Things as They Are looks past the stock image of Stevens as an aloof attorney to find a striving son, an uncertain husband and father, a part-time comedian, and a full-time Modern giant. The play tracks its subject from run-ins with Marcel Duchamp in the 1910s to Ernest Hemingway in the 1930s, from crises with wife Elsie to reconciliations with daughter Holly, and from his beloved Pennsylvania countryside to his exotic refuge of Key West. Through a series of linked vignettes, it reveals the real Wallace Stevens to be a man of great insight, contradictions, whimsy, and desire. Things as They Are was written by David Todd, and includes excerpts from Wallace Stevens’ original work by arrangement with Alfred A. Knopf. Directed by Anjanette Hall, this world premiere features an original score composed and performed by Ben Chasny, the creative force behind the celebrated group Six Organs of Admittance. ABOUT THE COMPANY Playwrights Local is a theater company based in Cleveland. Billed as a playwrights’ center, the organization’s goal is to provide a home for dramatic writing in Northeast Ohio. They offer classes and workshops, produce original plays, provide networking opportunities, and engage the community through outreach projects.
