Station Hope 2017 Informational Meeting

Dear Northeast Ohio artists, CPT is beginning to plan the fourth annual Station Hope event - a free multi-arts event that celebrates the triumphs of the Underground Railroad, Cleveland's social justice history, and contemporary struggles for freedom and justice. The format of Station Hope includes multiple stages with 10-15 minute pieces performing simultaneously throughout the evening. This year, Station Hope will be a massive community celebration at and surrounding Ohio City's historic St. John's Church - Cleveland's only authenticated Underground Railroad site - on April 29th, 2017. CPT is looking for artists, performance groups, choirs and organizations to create original work and perform at this powerful event. Performances can range from site-specific plays, actors in character wandering through the event, or your church choir singing. We are also seeking visual artists who are interested in creating community generated art and installations. If you are interested in learning more about Station Hope, you are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on Saturday, January 7th, at 1pm at Cleveland Public Theatre. We will be discussing how Station Hope has worked in the past and sharing information about the application process. PLAYWRIGHTS LOCAL Announces its 2017 OPEN SUBMISSION PERIOD New ten-minute, one-act, and full-length plays by writers from Northeast Ohio accepted from January 1 - March 31, 2017. No fee for submitting! Playwrights Local seeks original, unproduced plays for our 2017-2018 programs, including the 3rd Annual Cleveland Playwrights Festival (Fall 2017) and our developmental Play Lab (Winter/Spring 2018). Playwrights may submit up to two pieces: one ten-minute play and one one-act or full-length play. All unproduced, original plays for adult audiences are accepted, including one-person plays. *Auditions for Radio Play "The International Affair"* Looking for 2 male parts: *Yavin (20-30s), Zach (20-30s)* *Recording Dates: Jan. 7-8* This started out as a fun project among friends, but a couple of people dropped out, I've managed to tentatively fill one role but still looking for at least one. Given the nature of the project, there will be no pay. Craft services will be provided. *Basic story: *A CIA agent, Phillip Robbins, is busted in the Senate's torture report. Phillip was particularly obsessed with breaking a prisoner named "Fluffinstein." Phillip reunites with his old buddy Zach Cromwell. They decide to take down Fluffinstein because no one else will. At the same time... Yavin, a Russian businessman, had an encounter with Zach in the military. After Yavin's plane was shot down, Zach shot up Yavin and left him for dead in the desert. Yavin swore vengeance, and when he sees Zach & Robbins on TV in relation to the CIA torture scandal, Yavin gets in touch with Fluffinstein to plan their joint revenge on Zach & Robbins. *- Yavin (20-30s)* - Russian businessman. Savvy and cunning, but not as much as he thinks. *- Zach (20-30s) *- Phillip Robbins old army buddy. Zach is washed up, but eager to relive his glory days when he and Phillip reunite. CPT is now Requesting Proposals for the 17/18 Season

Dear Northeast Ohio artists, CPT is planning the 2017-2018 Season, and once again we are reaching out to you for great ideas. CPT is focused on new work that is surprising, unexpected and somehow outside the realm of conventional theatre. CPT is looking for proposals from Northeast Ohio artists for complete projects. Proposals may be for world premieres, second or third US productions, radical re-envisionings of classic plays or other projects. The show could be your own show or a script you would like to work on. Based on the success of past co-productions and our New Play Development series, we are also interested in creating opportunities for artists and groups that would like to retain greater ownership of projects and who can share risk with CPT. Before sending a proposal: * Take time to look at CPT's recent seasons-these are excellent examples of our programming choices. Click Here for the Season Archive<http://www.cptonline.org/performances/seasons/>. * Get a sense of CPT's aesthetic and artistic sensibility-if you haven't seen a lot of shows at CPT, talk to people who have. * CPT has a culture of doing a lot with a little and production budgets are modest. Keep in mind CPT's financial limitations. * If this is a new/original project, think through its current state of development-is it still in early development or at the right moment for full production? Submitting a Proposal Proposals of complete projects should be 1-3 pages long, not including script or work samples, and must include: * a one page summary of the project: including why this project fits CPT's mission and why it's important to you as an artist * your sense of what state the project is currently in and a general plan to bring it to completion * a resume for all primary artists involved * additional materials that will help us get a sense of the project: copy of proposed script, sample of past work, video, etc. please mention if you are interested in co-producing options Deadline for proposals is January 30th, 2017. If you are submitting an idea for a play that is already written by an outside artist, please keep in mind that others may be proposing the same script (for example, suggesting a script does not mean you have dibs on doing it at CPT). Please be aware that CPT does not comment on why proposals are not selected. We occasionally make subjective artistic suggestions related to a project if we are asked to give feedback. Auditions for Two Into One by Ray Cooney- Canal Fulton Players

We are still in the progress of scheduling the 2017 season. However, I am going to announce March's play. We will be doing Ray Cooney's raucous comedy Two Into One on March 3-5, 10-11 at the SALT Box Ministries. The play deals with a scheming member of English Parliament who is trying to set up a dalliance between the Prime Minister of England and a young woman at a far away hotel. However, instead of doing it himself, he decides to allow one of his young aides to make all of the arrangements. Unfortunately, the aide botches everything with very comic results. In the tradition of Run for Your Wife and Caught in the Net, this play will have the audience rolling in the aisles. There are ten parts- 5 female and 5 male. The roles are: Richard Willey- a prominent member of Parliament Pamela Willey- an impetuous woman The receptionist- described as very efficient The hotel manager- described as brusque and in his fifties The waiter- an oily type of fellow Lilly Chatterton- another prominent member of Parliament who is a crusader against pornography George Pidgen- a put upon man who is cheerful Maria- the Spanish chambermaid Jennifer Bristow- a young twenty year old woman Edward- a young man in his twenties The director is Charles Hayward. The producer is David Van Gaasbeek. Auditions are on January 4-5 at 7:00 pm at Community Connections. Please be ready to read from the script.
