Arlene's Broadway on Buffalo, 236 Buffalo Street in Conneaut, is seeking contributions by area playwrights for its second-annual Collection of One-Act Plays. The plays will be produced and then presented on the ABOB stage May 20-22. Last year, submissions for the performance included a man who takes love advice from a meatball, a therapy session where not all is as it seems, unusual requests at the reference desk, a man with writers block, an unusual game of charades and a sojourn through three generations of a family. The plays should run about 8-15 minutes and the sky's the limit on topic. Think you've got some directing chops? The performances are also a chance for people to get their feet wet in the ABOB directing racket...we're actively seeking people who have not directed at the theater to take over the reins of these productions. Once chosen, plays will be assigned a director, who will then audition actors, rehearse the material and present it at the performance. Auditions for the 2016 season of the Great Lakes Medieval Faire will be held *March 12th and 13th from 10am to 5pm* at the Geneva Lodge and Conference Center, 4888 North Broadway, Geneva-on-the-Lake OH, 44041. This year, we are performing the tale of *King Arthur*. All lead roles are currently available, along with all supporting cast roles to make up the wide and diverse village of Avaloch. He finds his family's home in ruins and abandoned, save for two former slaves, Simon and John, who wait in the empty house for the family's return. As the three men wait for signs of life to return to the city, they wrestle with their shared past, the bitter irony of Jewish slave-owning and the reality of the new world in which they find themselves. The sun sets on the last night of Passover and Simon - having adopted the religion of his masters - prepares a humble Seder to observe the ancient celebration of the freeing of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt, noting with particular satisfaction the parallels to their current situation. Olde Towne Hall Theatre Audition Request

Olde Towne Hall Theatre, 36199 Center Ridge Rd. in North Ridgeville is looking for an Eileen for its upcoming presentation of *Moon Over Buffalo* which runs April 22-May 7. Rehearsals begin on March 1st. This is a non-paid role. Candidates should be petite in stature (5'4" and under preferably) and between 20-30 years old. They should be able to do a British accent and should be willing to wear high heeled pumps on stage. If they have reddish-auburn hair it is a plus, but not necessary. Eileen is a pretty, flighty, naïve young lady who has a one night stand with George, the main character. *Moon Over Buffalo *is a raucous farce about a dysfunctional theater troupe performing at the Erlander Theatre in Buffalo, New York, in 1953. The diva lead actress, Charlotte Hay, is barely tolerant of her philandering semi-alcoholic husband, George, and mishaps and confusions arise for the company when presented the opportunity of famed film director Frank Capra attending a performance to possibly cast the two for a movie. Review of "Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play

D’oh! Grand ambitions, good intentions not quite realized in CPT’s ‘Mr. Burns’ Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics Maybe it’s our new-found awareness that pollution and over-consumption are driving the planet to ruin. Perhaps it’s our increasing dependence on technology or the tension generated by the current state of global politics. But there’s been a rash of post-apocalyptic fiction in recent years, from “The Hunger Games” trilogy and “The Maze Runner” to “The Walking Dead” and “Falling Skies.” None are as funny as Anne Washburn's wild, three-act dystopian comedy “Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play,” which opened at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington D.C. in 2012, had an Off-Broadway run in 2013, and is getting its regional premiere at Cleveland Public Theatre. While the play is poignantly wrought and addresses serious, big picture issues like the nature of human resilience, the importance of community, and the power of storytelling to sustain humanity and salvage culture, “The Simpsons” – TV’s longest-running sitcom – serves as its source material, which adds a delicious, head-shaking absurdity to the entire affair. Some degree of Simpsons literacy, a working knowledge of the 1991 Martin Scorsese film “Cape Fear” on which the Simpsons episode that drives this play is based, and a passing familiarity with contemporary pop music are certainly a plus when watching this show, though they are not required.
