*Aurora Community Theatre* *Mystery Dinner-Theatre* *Just Killing Time in Vegas* *Opens Friday* *Tickets still available for March 4, 5, 11, 12* Welcome to Nero’s Castle, the slightly tarnished casino on the glitzy Las Vegas strip, where management and staff of the struggling play-palace will stop at nothing – perhaps not even murder – to shoot for stardom and grab the gold in Sin City. Nero’s Castle is the setting for *Just Killing Time in Vegas*, Aurora Community Theatre’s first mystery dinner-theatre, which opens March 4 for four performances at 7 pm Fridays and Saturdays through March 12. Both the meal, featuring spaghetti, salad, dessert and beverage, plus the performance will take place in the lower lever Gallery of the theatre/library building, 115 E. Pioneer Trail. “Aurora Community Theatre is delighted to offer this wonderful package of excellent theatre, good food and a fun time,” said *Marianne Paul*, president of Aurora Community Theatre. “We have a terrific group of volunteers who will prepare and serve the full spaghetti dinner and help present the show, as well.” *Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski,* who wrote the original production with her husband *Jay Yamokoski*, will direct the play, which has been performed throughout Northeast Ohio. Emily Suzanne Plank, 24, who was born April 18, 1991 to Peter and Deborah (Kauf) Plank of Cinnamon Lake where Emily grew up, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 as a result of an auto accident in Arizona. A graduate of Black River High School, Emily received both the National School Choral Award and the John Philip Sousa Band Award for musical excellence. Frequently on the Honor Roll, Emily was a member of the Academic Challenge Team. She played on the Lady Pirates basketball and golf teams, and received a Patriot Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete Award. Interested in performing at an early age, Emily participated in numerous community theater and school productions, where she was often a soloist. She was a "Kazoo Kid" cast member on the local TV show, "Kazoo", filmed at the Cleveland Zoo. Emily enjoyed participating in talent shows, and became the first "Medina Idol", winning professional recording time. She attended Ashland University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at Ashland, she participated in every aspect of theater production and performance. She interned for a summer at the "American Folklore Theatre" in Peninsula State Park, Door County, WI. She was a member of the Ashland University Choir, which traveled to Italy and performed at the Vatican during the selection of the new Pope. She had one of the lead roles in "Rumspringa", a locally shot student film about the Amish. After college, Emily gave voice lessons, formed a jewelry business and continued to act and sing, amassing a long resume of performances. She appeared in a Nike commercial for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and received rave reviews for recent performances at the "Near West Theatre". For the past year, she sang professionally in the Cleveland area, most notably at the club "Twist", and the restaurant "Roxu". Emily was a dynamic singer with the ability to mesmerize audiences with her range and powerful vocal ability. She had a sparkling personality and the ability to charm everyone she met. Her loving spirit and generosity knew no limit. Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Creston United Methodist Church, 166 S. Main St., Creston Calling hours will be Saturday from 3-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston. Memorial contributions to the Emily Plank Memorial Fund, PO Box 25, Creston, OH 44217 Emily is survived by her parents, Peter and Deborah; sister, Sara, and brother, Mitchell, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jack and Gene Plank, and maternal grandparents, Russell and Donna Kauf.

He had been a fireman for ten years. and he had never questioned the pleasure of the midnight runs nor the joy of watching pages consumed by flames...never questioned anything until he met a 17-year-old girl who told him of a past when people were not afraid. Then Guy met a professor who told him of a future in which people could think. And Guy Montag suddenly realized what he had to do... * *Eligibility:* You must be 13-19 years old in order to audition. *Shows:* May 13 and 14 at 7:30pm, May 15 at 2pm *Possible school day performances May 19 and 20 * *Rehearsals:* Rehearsals are Monday-Thursday 6:30-9 and Sundays 5-8. CANTON IDOL AUDITIONS MARCH 12

After 14 years Canton Idol will have its final competition April 16th at the Timken Early College Campus. Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, March 12, 2 pm at the Arts in Stark Education Center, 1014 Cleveland Avenue, NW. Canton Idol has auditioned over one-thousand individuals. Some of them have formed bands, produced CD's and DVDs. Some contestants have moved to Branson, Nashville and other major cities to further their careers. In addition to being involved in the competition, participants have been given an opportunity to sing at various venues that include Hall of Fame events, Fairs, Church and community events, weddings, and many more. Betty Smith, founder of Canton Idol, decided to end this competition in keeping with the American Idol that is in its final year. After consultation with Brad and Christa Crozier, co-coordinators for Canton Idol, it was decided that 2017 will involve a singing competition for individuals and groups, a name has yet to be determined. Canton Idol age categories are 7 - 10; 11 - 13; 14 - 18; 19- 28 and 29 and over.
