Open Auditions for Singing Contest in Garrettsville

The Garrettsville Summerfest Committee is proud to announce open call auditions for Garrettsville Idol on April 17th at the Iva L. Walker Auditorium in Garfield HS. All contestants must be prepared to sing without music during the audition round. Any accepted entries must be prepared to sing a complete song for both the Semi-Finals Show on May 22, and Finals Show on June 26. There are 3 age categories; 8-12 (1 PM), 13-17 (2 PM) and 18 & up (3 PM). Cash Prizes for the winners of the 2016 Garrettsville Idol competition total $2000.00 between the three divisions. City Ballet of Cleveland2016 Audition�Date: April 10, 2016Time: 1:00 pm-2:30 pmFollowed by Parents’ Meeting at 2:30 pmThe City Ballet of Cleveland (CBC) audition is open to all serious dancers of ballet ages 10-21.� The company has two annual performances in May and December, as well as performances at All Ohio Dance Festival, Regional Dance America, and local schools.� Applications are available upon request at the Front Desk and online at www.cityballetofcleveland.org �under Company information. � Potential dancers do not have to be students at Cleveland City Dance.� If you do make it into the Company, you would need your current dance school to sign off monthly to confirm you are taking the required dance training in order to dance with the Company. � All potential Company members must audition in the Spring prior to the upcoming season. This includes all current Company members.� There is a $25 non-refundable audition (cash or check) which will be applied toward the Company fall participation fee. The audition class will be taught by the Company Artistic and Executive Director, Courtney J. Laves-Mearini. If unable to attend the April audition.� In lieu of an in-personal audition, one may submit a DVD audition. The DVD audition requirements are: A 15-20 minutes demonstration of barre and center technique.� The barre technique shown should include pli�s, battement tendus, battement j�t�, ronde de jambe, pass�, d�velopp� en croix, grande battements and balances on one leg.� The center technique should include adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro and grande allegro.� (For advance female dancers the center should be on pointe.) A classical variation one to two minutes in length.� (On pointe for advanced ladies) This is to show your technical abilities along with performing presence. A multi-generational artist, singer-songwriter Tommy Shaw has a wide depth of music in his personal recordings. SpotlightsTheater Presents the Comedy “BARBECUINGHAMLET” – April 22-May 7, 2016 Wouldn't it be great fun to direct William Shakespeare's"Hamlet"? That was what Margo Daley always thought. . . until she ishired to do just that by the Peaceful Glen Memorial Players in their theater, arenovated funeral home. They DO have a couple of conditions, however. Margo hasto make the play a melodrama, she has to insert the sponsors' names into the playand, it has to take place in the Old West! All kinds of eccentric characterscome out of the woodwork in this riotous tribute to life on the communitytheater stage. Even the pizza delivery boy is given several parts since Margoonly has four actors to portray the five-act tragedy. Fast lines and evenfaster exits punctuate this farce as Margo and her troupe of misguided actorsfind out what it's like when they begin "Barbecuing Hamlet." The BroadviewHeights Spotlights Community Theater will present the show on Fridays andSaturdays, April 22-May 7 at 7:30 PM. There will be a Sunday Matinee on May 1at 3:00 PM. The theater is located on the Broadview Center property, 9543Broadview Road (behind the Police Department).
