Firestone Park celebrates its 100 year anniversary with its annual Parade and Festival! This year we are re-energizing the classic event by inviting artists and performers to facilitate community art projects and to share theatre, music, and dance performance. The goal is to build community through collaborative art in a place that exemplifies Akron’s rubber history. The Festival is *Saturday June 25, 2016 from 11 a.m to 4 p.m.* We’re looking for (but not excluded to) large community art projects, acoustic music sets, and short performances including play readings, excerpts from larger performances, storytelling, improv and stand-up comedy, and dance. We’re open to all artists who want to celebrate Firestone Park’s past and present. OPEN AUDITIONS - Disney's Beauty & the Beast

Dynamics Community Theater of Tallmadge will hold open auditions for Disney's Beauty and the Beast, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Menken and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton. Auditions will be held on May 18-19th from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Black Box Theater at Tallmadge High School (140 North Monroe Rd). Callbacks, if needed, will be held May 20th. Please bring a picture (it will not be returned), prepare 16 bars to sing A Capella, and be prepared to read from a script provided that evening. There is casting for 7 male and 4 female leads, with a featured ensemble of wolves, enchanted objects, and townspeople. Those wishing to audition for leads are encouraged to sing something in the style and range of that character. It will be directed by J.E. Ballantyne, Jr., with musical direction by Sandy Michaels. Performances are the evenings of July 22, 23rd, and 29, 30th with a matinee on July 24th. Rehearsals begin May 23rd. Questions may be emailed to producer(a)dynamicstheater.org.

2016 OPEN SUBMISSIONS Playwrights Local seeks original one-act and full-length plays for our 2nd Annual Cleveland Playwrights Festival in late 2016 and for additional programs including our developmental Play Lab in early 2017. All plays that are original and professionally unproduced will be accepted. Small-scale musicals and one-person shows are welcome, but no adaptations or translations, please. There is NO FEE for submitting! Up to ONE SCRIPT may be submitted. Open to all playwrights age 18 or older who are permanent residents of Cuyahoga and its bordering counties. The deadline for entry is midnight on MAY 15, 2016. Early submissions are encouraged! Selections will be announced by July 15, 2016. Summer Puppet and Mask Camp — June 20th - June 24th Kids (ages 6-10) & Early Teens (ages 11-14) Mon-Thurs 8:30am-3pm; Fri 8:30am-noon This one-week camp allows students to build puppets and masks, and write their own stories to perform for parents and friends at week's end. All masks and puppets made are theirs to keep. TCT offers three in-house Youth Theatre Arts courses per year. They take place on location at TCT—a 188 seat, ADA compliant theatre located on the eastern edge of the Detroit-Shoreway area of Cleveland's near west side. TCT uses professional artist/educators working in their dedicated fields to teach every class, residency, and workshop. Each artist/educator has been trained to carry out TCT's educational offerings to the fullest, and to ensure that every child involved in its programming is noticed, encouraged to participate, and supported. TCT's artist/educators provide children with the tools to grow and bloom not only artistically, but with the confidence and new awareness that involvement in the arts brings.
