We can't wait for you to join us! What exactly is The Manhattan Project - Cleveland Lab? The Manhattan Project is a low-stakes, nonthreatening place for actors and playwrights to meet and work together. Based on the Theatre Lab model taught at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and inspired by The Brooklyn Generator in New York, The Manhattan Project wants to introduce Cleveland actors and playwrights to each other by organizing a bi-monthly production of brand new 10-minute plays. Participating artists will meet early in the month and will be broken into teams, each with one playwright. The playwright will then be given a writing prompt to write a new 10-minute play based on the prompt and including all the team's actors. The rest of the evening the team members will get to know each other and get a feel for each other's skills and voices. The teams will reconvene later in the month to perform these plays for each other. These 10-minute plays are not an end in themselves. Through these small collaborations we hope to build relationships between the two most vulnerable artists in theatre; the actors who put themselves on stage and the playwrights who pour themselves onto the page. Perhaps these 10-minute plays will grow into longer works or maybe these collaborations will become partnerships on larger projects. The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage), and Jamie's is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met). CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE (CPH) HOLDING A CHRISTMAS STORY AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN OF ALL RACES/ETHNICITES Cleveland Play House (CPH) is casting children ages 7-12, of all races and ethnicities, for its production of A Christmas Story, directed by John McCluggage. All positions are paid. Auditions are by appointment only. For BOYS AND GIRLS: Auditions will be held FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 9th from 5:30pm-8:30-pm & SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 10th from 10:00am-2:00pm. FINAL CALLBACKS: will be held on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 10th from 3:00pm-6:00p.m. Auditions will take place in CPH's rehearsal spaces, located on the fifth floor of the Middough Building, at 1901 E. 13th Street in Downtown Cleveland. Performers will audition with sides from the script, which will be sent when an appointment is set. Please note that children who will be 13 or older on 12/23/16 are ineligible to audition Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, November 1st, and will be held after school and on weekends, Tuesday-Sunday. Schwartz - (9-12, any race/ethnicity) Another of Ralphie's buddies. He likes trouble. He's a little more on the ball than Flick and gets him to do things he probably shouldn't. Also plays a Desperado. Esther Jane -(9-12, any race/ethnicity) Has a crush on Ralphie. Sweet, girly and likeable. Best friends with Helen. Helen - (9-12, any race/ethnicity) Smartest girl in class. Likes to talk politics and gossip. Best friends with Esther Jane. Randy - (7-10) Ralphie's mischievous little brother who has a true fascination with Santa. Seeking Middle School accompanist for 16-17 school year You would be playing for 3 choirs at Madison Middle School in Lake County. Each performance will include piano accompaniments for 12-15 songs in a variety of styles. Strong musicianship and accompanying experience required. Each performance would include 3 daytime rehearsals during the normal school day. Choirs meet from 8:20-10:50AM. You must be available for 3 rehearsal days (rehearsal dates are negotiable, but must include the Day Of the performance - if possible). Performance Dates: Dec. 8th - Fall Concert Feb 28 - Contest Preview Concert March 3-4 - OMEA Large Group Contest April 26 - Spring Concert Payment is $800 for all dates.
