SPEND YOUR SUMMER STUDYING ACTING, DANCE AND VOICE AT HATHAWAY BROWN THEATRE INSTITUTE

*REGISTRATION IS BEING ACCEPTED FOR* HATHAWAY BROWN THEATRE INSTITUTE SUMMER TRAINING - 2017 Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) is entering its 5th summer, offering performing arts training and professional production experiences for young people. HBTI, a part of the Performing Arts Department at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, offers young people a challenging curriculum of drama, dance and/or music, as well as the opportunity to participate in fully staged productions. HBTI boasts instructors who are some of the top professional actors, directors, designers and academics in the area, and who have a long list of successful former students who have gone on to Broadway, film and television. HBTI faculty for 2017 season include Tess Burgler, Jenny Burnett, India Burton, Anjanette Hall, T.J.Hanley, Dan Hendrock, Kyle Jozsa, Bebe Weinberg Katz, John Krol, Joe Pine, R.Scott Posey, Bob Russell, Rebekah Sharpe, Katie Zarecki and Ryan Zarecki. Directing the main stage productions will be Fred Sternfeld, Bebe Weinberg Katz and Dan Hendrock HBTI offers programs on three levels: PRIME( grades 1-4) :and PERFORMING ARTS TRAINING (grades 5 – 8 and 9th- college). Sessions One and Two are each 3-week long and Sessions Three is for 2 weeks. Session start dates are June 19, July 10 and July 31st respectively. Director Bebe Weinberg Katz said, "While the training at HBTI is geared toward the young performer interested in a professional theatre career, our students gain the confidence, discipline and social skills that will help give them the extra edge in this highly-competitive world, no matter what their eventual field of pursuit. The students also find the process immensely fun, exciting, rewarding and a great place to make life long friends." In the past four seasons Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) has been the summer theatre home for more than 700 students taking classes and workshops in acting, musical theatre and dance and involved nearly 300 of its students in highly acclaimed productions. These productions have received numerous broadwayworld.com nominations. Last summer’s production of *Into the Woods* won for “best theatre production for young audiences.” HBTI will also mount two full productions: *Children of Eden, *co-directed by Bebe Weinberg Katz and Fred Sternfeld ( June 30-July 9) and *Side Show, *directed by Dan Hendrock (July 28 – August 6). The productions are a direct extension of the training. "Our shows allow the students to apply the tools and techniques they learn during the day in productions mounted by top professional directors and designers." Katz added, "Our young performers have the opportunity to participate in production of the highest professional level." Voices of Canton-SingStark! Event 3/15/17

If you like to sing in the shower and in the car, this is the group for you! Inspired by Pop Up Chorus in Durham, North Carolina, SingStark! is a no-commitment, no-audition chorus that meets the third Wednesday of every month at the Canton Brewing Company Speakeasy in downtown Canton. Forget auditions and commitments, just sing! P.J. Chavez, musician and educator, leads SingStark attendees each month in singing two popular songs. Songs featured this month will be Friends in Low Places and Free Falling. We will learn the songs and perform them the same evening. We record each performance and will post them on the SingStark YouTube channel. So, if you're ready for an evening of fun singing and great beer (hey, we're at the Canton Brewing Company, after all), then come on down! We start singing at 7 P.M. the 3rd Wednesday of every month. 2017 Auditions-- Great Lakes Medieval Faire

The third round of auditions for the 2017 Great Lakes Medieval Faire will be held Saturday, March 25th and Sunday, March 26th from 11 am to 4 pm inside the Feast Hall at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire For our principal cast, we need four men preferably age 30+ to play our Knights Templar: -Richard Mallebeench, Master of the Templars in England -Gilbert de Lacy -Sir Roger St. Leger -Sir William de Harcourt We also need talented actors to portray our main villainous nobles the Earl Edmund of Lancaster and his wife Blanche of Artois, as well as their hired help; a chaotic neutral group of rogues and their leader. This year, our principal cast is based on people that actually existed (save for the rogues. They were just added for dramatic effect). Please research the character you are auditioning for, and tailor your audition piece appropriately. While the names of our leads are historically accurate, the age of the actor portraying them does not have to be. In addition to these named characters we also need to fill the following roles: 2 ladies maids to Lady Blanche 2 footmen to the Earl A Faerie princess 4+ elemental fae A mysterious Oracle A Wizard A Court Jester Four Squires to the Knights 6 to 8 Rogues A sheriff to the village of Avaloch The Mayor of Avaloch As well as, of course, a diverse and wide cast of villagers.
