Hi Everybody, I am directing *You Can't Take It With You* at Karamu, opening April 20 and we are in need of a few specialty props. I figured with everyone out there who has done this show, it is likely that these items might be in a few prop storage rooms. Or, you may be able to lead me to who might have them. The show is produced by Karamu and due to the renovation of their main stage it will be produced at Tri C East from April 20 - May 7. We also hope to have some additional mask that Ed has made that can be on the wall as set decoration. *SMALL PRINTING PRESS* - A small printing press with a footprint of around 2' x 2', either table top or free-standing, circa 1910s-1930s. Ideally it would work and have type sticks and some other accessories. But if it doesn't we may be able to still use it. *FAKE FIREWORKS* - These are the rockets De Pinna and Paul bring in - 1-2 ft long. They aren't real, they just have to look like something these characters created. *OTHER SET DECOR / SMALL ITEMS* - Can we come and raid your prop room? Auditions for the 39th Annual Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival Announcing Auditions for the 2017 Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival, the oldest and longest-running young playwriting Festival in the United States! Needed: performers of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. Auditions will be held at the Main Branch of the Cleveland Heights Public Library, 2345 Lee Rd. Actors do not need to prepare a monologue, but should come prepared to move and read from scripts. Hudson Players 2017/2018 Season Announcement At Upcoming Annual Membership Meeting

*Hudson Players 2017/2018 Season Will be Announced* *At Upcoming Annual Membership Meeting * For anyone interested in joining Hudson Players, and getting a sneak peak of next year’s season, make plans to attend the group’s annual spring membership meeting, Sunday, April 9th, at 6:00 pm at the Barlow Community Center at 41 S. Oviatt Street in Hudson. Whether it be looking for people to appear on stage, backstage, or up in the technical booth, Hudson Players has been presenting a wide variety of theatrical productions in Hudson for more than 70 years. With a motto of “Good shows, good friends, good times,” the group is always looking for new members to add their special skills and talents. This season, Hudson Players had a sold-out run of *Mary Poppins* in February along with the funny murder mystery *Thumbs * in the fall. The group expects to end this season on a high note when the madcap musical *On The Twentieth Century* opens at the end of April. Hudson Players is already planning for next year and has recently completed the selection process for the three productions that will be presented for the 2017/2018 season. The slate of shows will be announced at the upcoming membership meeting. In addition, the organization’s “volunteer of the year” also will be presented. To ensure theatregoers don’t get shut out for sold-out shows, Hudson Players will continue to offer a Season Pass, which includes a ticket for each show for just $30.00. "Jesus Christ Superstar" opens at Weathervane Playhouse this Friday!

Weathervane Playhouse brings "Jesus Christ Superstar" to the stage. What's the buzz? The original rock opera is what's-a-happening. AKRON, OH - Weathervane Playhouse presents Jesus Christ Superstar, the original rock opera, March 30 to April 23, 3017. Performance days and times are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 pm (with no performance on Easter Sunday, April 16). Additionally a 10 a.m. performance will be presented for school groups on Tuesday, April 4. A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for over 40 years, Jesus Christ Superstar is a timeless work set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Director Melanie YC Pepe says of the production, "Jesus Christ Superstar is a courageous musical. It invites the audience to look at someone they don't understand and try to see the world from their point of view. That is a very difficult thing to do." Less than 12 months after the Broadway show opened, the rock spectacle went to London, exploding onto the West End at the Palace Theatre in August 1972 in a hugely successful production. By 1980, after 3,358 performances, Jesus Christ Superstar had become the longest running musical in West End history at the time and grossed $12.3 million. In all, Jesus Christ Superstar has grossed over $205 million and has been professionally produced in 42 countries around the world! About the Creators: Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber was born on March 22, 1948, and grew up in South Kensington, England. His childhood was spent in a home filled with music and he demonstrated, from an early age, an extraordinary talent for it. He is the composer of many musicals, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Cats, Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera, and Sunset Boulevard. Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom knighted him in 1992 as Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is the recipient of seven Tony Awards, three Grammys, one Oscar, an International Emmy and a Golden Globe. In 2006, he was named one of five of that year's Kennedy Center Honors recipients. Love Never Dies, a sequel to his Phantom of the Opera, opened in London in 2010. In 2011, he wrote the music for a new stage version of The Wizard of Oz. Originally starring Michael Crawford (the original star of Broadway's Phantom of the Opera), the production opened in London in March 2011 and ran until September 2012 (followed thereafter by a production in Toronto and a U.S. tour). His newest show, School of Rock: The Musical, opened on Broadway in 2015 (and is still playing to enthusiastic audiences at the Winter Garden Theatre). His foundation, the Andrew Lloyd Webber Music Program, is one of England's leading arts and education charities. Currently, nearly 3,000 children receive free musical instruments and music tuition throughout their school careers thanks to the foundation's gifts. Lyricist Tim Rice was born in Buckinghamshire, England, on November 10, 1944. He entered the world of popular music as the lead singer of the pop-rock group the Aardvarks and went on to sing occasionally with other popular rock groups of the 1960s. He published his first song, That's My Story, in 1965 - the same year he met his eventual musical partner, Andrew Lloyd Webber. In addition to Jesus Christ Superstar, the two Englishmen collaborated on the blockbuster musicals Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Rice has worked with other notable composers, including Marvin Hamlisch and Paul McCartney, and received three Grammys for his work on Walt Disney's Aladdin. With Elton John, he wrote the lyrics for Disney's The Lion King. In 2010, he reunited with his Joseph...Dreamcoat collaborator Andrew Lloyd Webber to create new songs for a stage version of The Wizard of Oz. His most recent project as a lyricist is a musical version of the World War II novel From Here to Eternity, which played in London's West End from October 2013 through March 2014. Good Morning!! Mandel JCC Performing Arts Camp is looking for a few more staff members to complete our summer team! Specifically, we are still in need of the following: - 3-8 Grade Supervisor (overseeing staff for this age group)- Two Senior Counselors for Dance (one for kids in grades K-2, one for kids in grades 3-8)- Two Senior Counselors for Music (one for kids in grades K-2, one for kids in grades 3-8) These positions offer a great opportunity to work with awesome kids in a camp setting while sharing the skills you have learned through theatre, dance, and music training and experience! They also offer leadership training and experience. As Supervisor, you would have the opportunity to oversee staff and help with program development. Senior Counselors work with their Junior Counselors to create fun, exciting classes for all campers. They also participate in rehearsals for the final show. Dance counselors have the opportunity to choreograph the summer shows. This is a great resume builder for high school and college students. We hire students going into 10th grade as of the fall of 2017, but Senior Counselors should be going into 12th grade or in college as of the fall of 2017.
