Hudson Players Auditions for A FEW GOOD MEN Written by Aaron Sorkin Directed by Brian Westerley Audition Dates: September 10 & 11 - 7:00 p.m. Barlow Community Center 41 S. Oviatt St. Hudson, Ohio 44236 Performance Dates: November 3, 4, 10, 11, 12*, 17 & 18, 2017 (8:00 p.m. curtain/*2 p.m. matinee) The auditions will involve reading from the script. After a successful run as a stage play on Broadway, this intense drama made its way to the movie screen starring Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore. Two Marines are on trial for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial. On the opposing side is Lt. Colonel Nathan Jessep, a harsh Marine with something to hide, who sees it as his duty to do whatever it takes to protect his men and his country, with a final courtroom collision not to be missed. Audition Reminder “Without a Clue” a killer new comedy written by Breianne Knight Directed by John Schneider Audition dates and times Sunday, August 20th at 2:00 Monday, August 21st at 7:00 Olde Towne Hall Theatre – 36119 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville Auditions will consist of reading scenes from the script. Plot Summary Justin Tyme owns a small hotel that has its share of problems. During a thunderstorm, the maid, Lulu, discovers one of the guests staying at the hotel has been murdered. Brooke, a girl with a broken down car, arrives right before an inept detective. Pretty soon, all of the guests are brought together to figure out the killer’s identity and survive the night. The problems double when Sally Lynch, a building inspector, arrives to evaluate the condition of the hotel. Character Descriptions Justin Tyme – age 20s to 30s. Owner of the Falcon Inn. A bit high strung. Inspector Stumph – any age. A bumbling detective. Howard - any age. A wise-cracking, lazy maintenance man. Can double as the dead body and is carried around onstage. Slash - 20s. A wannabe British rock star with a fake accent. Mortimer - any age. Expressionless. Monotone. Sits on a couch and wears a cape. Glen Roberts - a dead body. Brooke – age 20s to 30s. Level headed. Points out the absurdity of the situation. Lulu – age 20s to 30s. The maid. Often confused. Has a crush on Justin. Tina – age 20s. Slash's girlfriend. Somewhat neurotic. Has fainting spells. Sally Lynch - age 35+. A building inspector. Very stern and serious. Actors need to feel comfortable performing physical comedy (tripping, stumbling and falling). Performances are September 29, 30, and October 6, 7, 8, 13, 14. Rehearsals will be Monday - Thursday at 7:00 with two Sunday rehearsals at 12:00. Rehearsals start Aug. 24. Questions? I just wanted to inform you that the video of my short one-act stage play, "About Michael", has been released by Sky Blue Theatre Co. on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbc4Pqh83Sw The video was made on April 7, 2017, when About Michael made its European debut at the Off-West End theatre, LOST Theatre, in London, U.K. as a selection of the "British Theatre Challenge 2017: Act 2", produced by Sky Blue Theatre Company. About Michael was awarded the Second Place Audience Appreciation Award. The London production was directed by John Mitton and featured actors David Eaton (Marcus Stressel), Anthonia Bourdillon (Kathy Pope), Yvette Bruin (Susan Jackson), Simon Fox (Dr. Doug Wright) and Jasper Jamin Norris (Michael Janson). An early version of About Michael premiered as a part of the Student Theatre Festival at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, USA on April 8 - 10, 2016 in the E.Z. Black Box Theatre. The production was coordinated & advised by Dr. Daniel Nadon, Paul Floriano, Heather Sinclair and Eric van Baars. The play was directed by Theatre Studies major Courtney Kennell and featured student actors David Wise (Marcus), Heidi Holmwood (Susan), Kevin Sigler (Michael), Meredith Aistrope (Kathy), and Yannik Carstensen (Dr. Wright).
