CASTING CALL: Short film. Unpaid, non-union. Seeking elderly actors, one man and one woman to play an older married couple. Looking for actors in their 70s + or looks age appropriate, stressing grey/white hair, or natural color. Ideally looking for an interracial couple, Caucasian man and African American woman, but accepting any queries from all individuals age appropriate. Looking for actors with great natural facial expression and body language, as the film is silent. The elderly woman must have soft, strong, distinct narrating like voice for voice over. Actors must be able to move freely as they will be required to dance. The film is a mostly silent drama. Shooting August 26th and 27th in Akron, OH. THEATRE AUDITIONS FOR CONSIDER THE OYSTER AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY AT STARK SEPT. 6 & 7 Auditions open to students and community members NORTH CANTON, OHIO, Aug. 3, 2017 – Kent State University at Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for the first theatrical production of the season, Consider the Oyster by David MacGregor, and directed by Kent State Stark Associate Professor of Theatre and Theatre Director Brian Newberg. Auditions are open to everyone, including students and members of the community. Kent State Stark encourages diversity in casting. Consider the Oyster features Gene, who, after watching his favorite team win the Super Bowl, spontaneously proposes to his longtime girlfriend Marisa. In the midst of his excitement, he breaks his leg. The oyster shell the doctor leaves in Gene’s leg to aid in healing sets off a chain reaction of odd feminine changes in Gene’s physicality, hormones and emotions. Gender identity and humor explode on stage in comical yet thought-provoking ways. Auditions will be held on Sept. 6-7 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. Roles are available for two men and two women. No children. Those auditioning may perform a prepared monologue, if they wish, and the director may also choose sides (selected scene excerpts) for some to perform. The production will be performed Nov. 10-12 and 17-19 at the Kent State Stark Theatre. Rehearsals will begin Sept. 11, and will occur five evenings a week until opening. The Importance of Being Earnest Will Be Presented on August 18-20, 25-27 at Yoga Central, 4626 Cleveland Avenue North, Canton The Canal Fulton Players are proud to present Oscar Wilde’s romantic comedy of deception and chicanery, The Importance of Being Earnest, on August 18-20, 25-27, 2017 at Yoga Central, 4626 Cleveland Avenue North, Canton, Ohio. This new venue gives the players a new perspective as to the presentation of comedies. Yoga Central has large room with a raised stage with numerous doors to enter and exit to add to the hijinks involved in this play. The Importance of Being Earnest is a play in which two men assume the same identity to deceive the general public and loved ones. The inclusion of two men who are never seen or heard adds to the frivolity as each character either kills these men off or resurrects them out of thin air. Confusion reigns supreme as two women believe that they are engaged to be married only to find out that there is no fiancé to marry. Just as confusion reigns supreme, the chicanery unravels quickly but not before the two men employ other devices to obtain their goals. Unfortunately, they discover that their loved ones and others use deception to thwart them. Is there an Ernest among the cast? Who is this fellow Bunbury? Is Jack who he says he is? And what about this Miss Prism? Making up the cast are: Brad Vincent as John Worthing, a prime proper landowner who goes to the city to have fun Mark Brown as Algernon Moncrieff, a bohemian type who loves to have a good time Geri Marken as Rev. Canon Chasuble, a minister who is smitten with a fine woman Lou Saneshige as Merriman, the house keeper at John Worthing’s estate and Lane, Algernon’s maid in London Denise Robb as Lady Bracknell, the snobbish aunt to Algernon and chief antagonist to John Worthing Shelly Rayborn as Gwendolen Fairfax, a head strong woman looking for true love and a good time Courtney Hardy as Cecily Cardew, an innocent girl who believes in romance in everything Linda Keith as Miss Prism, Cecily’s tutor and a woman with a jaded past. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm. Sunday matinee performances are at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $10.00 for adults, and $8.00 for seniors and children under the age of twelve. Casting for Dark Comedy Short Film

We are currently casting for a dark comedy short film project. The project is non union and in addition to being a stand alone short film, will also be used as a investment tool for securing funds towards a feature film version. All three of the roles only require a small 1 day time commitment, which should be happening within the next month or so. Mother - Mid 20's - late 30's - The voice of reason. She tried to keep the family and everyone calm. Father - Mid 20's - late 30's - Short temper and high strung. He's stressed out and about to burst. Daughter - 6-10 years old. There are a few crude jokes that happen in front of the daughter, but the scene will be block so she doesn't actually see or hear them.
