An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life. Petitt Memorial Music Scholarship. This year's competition will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 113 at The Cleveland Institute of Music, 11021 East Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio 44106. The scholarship is designed to give recognition and encouragement to musically gifted teens through the opportunity to perform on stage with the Cleveland POPS Orchestra and receive a cash award to be applied to their continuing studies. Entry is open to all youth up to age 18 residing and attending high school in the seven-county Greater Cleveland region. Contestants can be singers, dancers or instrumentalists. They must be prepared to perform a full-length musical selection from memory. Choice of selection may be drawn from standard popular music repertoire, including songs, dances or instrumental solos found in Broadway musicals, big band arrangements, jazz or light classics. The grand prize winner of the competition will perform with the Cleveland POPS Orchestra at one of their regularly scheduled concerts at Severance Hall or PlayhouseSquare. The winner will also receive a $500 cash award. Applications must be received at the Cleveland POPS office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018. Tri-C Students Reclaim Playhouse Square SpotlightCollege production of ‘A View From the Bridge’ set for Nov. 1-3 at Ohio Theatre Theater students from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will present A View From the Bridge as they take the stage at the Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square. Performances will take place Nov. 1-3 at the historic downtown theater. Students from multiple Tri-C campuses will perform and work behind the scenes to present the play on one of the nation’s grandest stages. A View From the Bridge begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $20 ($5 for students/Tri-C students free with ID) and can be purchased at www.playhousesquare.org or by calling 216-241-6000. The Ohio Theatre is located at 1511 Euclid Ave. This is the third year students from the College have staged a production at Playhouse Square. A View From the Bridge by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Arthur Miller tells the tale of a Brooklyn longshoreman named Eddie Carbone, whose obsessive affection for his niece leads to a clash with two illegal immigrants taking refuge in his home. Miller’s classic tragedy premiered in 1955. It has since enjoyed consistent revivals on Broadway in addition to adaptations for film, television and even opera. The play will also be presented at Tri-C’s Simon and Rose Mandel Theatre at the Eastern Campus, with preview performances scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25-27 and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 25. Admission is free. This FRIDAY, Oct 26: Seeking Actors for Student Produced Films and Videos! - AUDITIONING FOR: a LEAD ROLE in student-produced films and videos, made by Cuyahoga Community College's beginner level film students (an "Intro to Filmmaking" class, taught by Prof. Bruno Tatalovic). Several students who completed this course in previous years – are now proud graduates of Tri-C, and newly established Cleveland film artists, videographers, and crew members on big union films shot in Ohio! :) - WHEN: Friday, October 26, show up anytime between 9:15am and 12:30pm. - WHERE: Tri-C Campus in Parma, 11000 W Pleasant Valley Rd, (park in "visitor"; walk to central campus area); If lost, ask police officers in hallways to show you G107 room. - WHO SHOULD COME: This type of collaboration is perfect for beginner (or intermediate) level actors who need more footage for their first demo-reel. By having a Demo Reel, you will be able to seek industry representation (agent). - ABOUT PROJECTS: each of these projects feature 1-2 actors only, and gives you a lot of screen time and dialogue or monologue lines. These are unpaid (collaboration) gigs. Get your first credit, your demo footage, and establish new relationships with like-minded content creators. Also, if you have NO screen acting experience, but you truly BELIEVE that you have what it takes - COME and try out! - TIMELINE: These projects are 1 day (half a day) shoots, sometimes in November (based on actors' availability). The students must complete their video editing within 2-3 weeks after their shoot. The videos will be available online when completed and you can ask students for HD download. AUDITION: It's a “walk-in” audition (cold read from our scripts or short personal monologue - if desired). Wizbang! Circus theatre Casting fun friendly female character ( Trans Welcome) actor for our holiday show at Cleveland Public Theatre 11-23/24 Must be unafraid of public interaction. Role is that of a pre-show and after show usherette seating and interacting with guests. This is a fun atmosphere! Perfect for those that love to Ham it up! Our company is drama free, open and we care greatly for each other. We are searching for individuals interested in joining us, committing to the circus environment and developing your skills. This role is initially volunteer but will receive tix for family members for this weekends shows. Permanent casting is a great possibility.
