Moonstruck Friday, November 16, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Moonstruck is about a widowed, 37-year-old Italian-American woman who falls in love with her fiancé's estranged, hot-tempered younger brother. A now-classic romantic comedy, it was nominated for six Oscars and won for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay. The film series tickets are $7. The Illusion Factory is holding auditions for our 2018-19 touring production of “Sojourner Speaks”, written and directed by Josy Jones. We are seeking an African-American woman to play the role of Sojourner Truth in a one-person performance for young audiences. Ages 25-45. Actor will be depicting the life of Sojourner Truth through many different characters in her life. Actor should be charismatic and high-energy with the ability to sing (or carry a tune). Movement background is an added bonus, but not required. Must have vehicle and a valid Driver’s License. Paid position per performance and rehearsal stipend. Calling All Witches and Wizards -- Costumes for Sale!

Flashes of Hope, a charitable organization dedicated to celebrating and supporting pediatric cancer patients while also funding research for a cure, partnered with the Cleveland Cavaliers to host the annual "Big Shots & Little Stars" fundraiser last week. The theme of the evening was the world of Harry Potter, and a number of costumes that were made or purchased for the event are available for sale! Perfect for Halloween, ComicCon, or any other wizarding event! The costumes include character replica costumes as well as some outfits that are inspired by the novels and films. The female costumes were made to fit teen/adult women, and each measures between 5'5" and 5'11" tall, with waist sizes ranging from 26" - 30" and bust sizes ranging from 34" - 39"; I can provide specific measurements for each costume on inquiry. Sizes are noted for the male costumes. You can see the costumes in action on the Cavs.com video coverage of "Big Shots & Little Stars," or I can provide photos. All of the costumes were worn for a few hours at the event, so they are used -- but you'd never know it, they are in next-to-new condition! We just don't have the room to store them, and would love to see them go to good homes where they will get to be worn. All proceeds go to Flashes of Hope (www.flashesofhope.org<http://www.flashesofhope.org>), so you can get a great costume while making a contribution to fight cancer. Tri-C Students Reclaim Playhouse Square SpotlightCollege production of ‘A View From the Bridge’ set for Nov. 1-3 at Ohio Theatre Theater students from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will present A View From the Bridge as they take the stage at the Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square. Performances will take place Nov. 1-3 at the historic downtown theater. Students from multiple Tri-C campuses will perform and work behind the scenes to present the play on one of the nation’s grandest stages. A View From the Bridge begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The Ohio Theatre is located at 1511 Euclid Ave. This is the third year students from the College have staged a production at Playhouse Square. A View From the Bridge by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Arthur Miller tells the tale of a Brooklyn longshoreman named Eddie Carbone, whose obsessive affection for his niece leads to a clash with two illegal immigrants taking refuge in his home. Miller’s classic tragedy premiered in 1955. It has since enjoyed consistent revivals on Broadway in addition to adaptations for film, television and even opera. The play will also be presented at Tri-C’s Simon and Rose Mandel Theatre at the Eastern Campus, with preview performances scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25-27 and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 25. Admission is free. Casting info for “Wendigo”: Wendigo is a student short film project for Western Reserve Academy. It is about three students who originally start making a short film, documenting their experience in Helltown Boston, Ohio. Their trip goes down in complete chaos when they delve too deep into the satanic background of the town. Cast will be built up around actors and who are thought to be strong enough actors to participate in the short film. Characters are not set in stone. Some characters might even be made out of the whim if we decide we really want to include an actor or actress. It is a horror film with avid scenes of violence (MAKE SURE YOU’D BE COMFORTABLE IN A FILM LIKE THIS IF CAST) Audition Materials: please send in a two minute monologue that you think features you and your personality the best. It can be written by you from the musical - absolutely whatever platform, just make sure this is what you want to show us to showcase your personality! LOCAL LORE GHOST WALK in Broadview Heights this weekend Did you know that the Broadview Center was a facility for the mentally handicapped? Have you heard the stories about the spirit of "the pink lady" who was there for many years, and seen by many. Hear about this legend and other paranormal activity on the property. The Spotlights Theater's inaugural Local Lore Ghost Walk is an immersive, historical theater experience on the Broadview Heights City Campus, 9543 Broadview Road, 44147. Hear from eight local spirits about true sightings, legends, and eerie happenings in the local Broadview Heights and Cleveland area. On October 19, 20, and 21, 2018, walking tours depart from Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater (next to the Police Station) every 15 minutes, beginning at 7:15 p.m. The final tour will depart at 9:00 p.m. each evening. Tours will last approximately 45 minutes, have a maximum of 15 guests, and will be first-come, first-served at the box office each night for any available spots. Reservations are recommended.
