Theatre on the Spectrum's adult company presents an original tribute to children's television for a two week run in our studio at 1501 S Hawkins Ave, Akron 44320. *Kool Kids on the Tube *is a live theatrical interpretation covering decades of Saturday morning programming from the dawn of television to contemporary shows and characters. Program Director, Wendy S Duke and Assistant Director Ruben Ryan helped the cast research and devise material before turning it into a script. Audiences of all ages will enjoy appearances by some of their favorites, including Romper Room, Mr Rogers and a special edition of Family Feud featuring the Flintstones vs the Jetsons! Find out whatever happened to Animal from the Muppet Show, Spike from Tom and Jerry, and Molly from the Comfy Couch in a segment called "Where Are They Now!" "Super Squad" features a band of superheroes who are assembled each week to try to defeat the evil Bowser! "The Captain Wheelz Show" is a tribute to local Cleveland legends Captain Penny and Jungle Larry. Performances are Oct 8 - 19 with six day time performances and two Friday evening shows. Performances are at noon on Oct 8, 10 & 11, at 1 PM on Oct 15, 17 & 18. The Friday shows are Oct 12 & 19 at 7 PM. Seating is very limited so please make your reservations early by calling 234-678-7830. We are a wheelchair accessible venue. The show runs an hour and 15 minutes without an intermission. Audiences are invited to stay after for autographs and cookies! Theatre on the Spectrum is a day theatre program for disAbled adults. Kyle - 30's to 40's , manufacturing manager, blue collar Jake - 20's to 30's , manufacturing worker, blue collar Jon - 30's to 50's , corporate manager, suit and tie type Addison - 30's to 40's, corporate auditor, business casual type Shooting will take place at Goodyear HQ in Akron, Ohio sometime during the week of October 15th, 2018, Monday through Friday during the hours of 8am - 5pm. Please submit a short video audition, cell phone, tablet, camera. Free parking, rate is $250 per role. PLEASE NO PHONE CALLS KYLE: Hey, Jake. Rejecting another one for missing the balancing spec? You're rejecting a lot of tires for being out of spec lately. JAKE: Yeah, I don't know what's going on. A lot of tires are falling outside the acceptable range...they're close but just missing the spec. KYLE: Are you sure? How far out of spec? Wait a minute. You're using THAT spec on the computer? KYLE: These tires should have been ok. That spec isn't the one we use. You should be using this one (points to wall). This is the "local spec." This one has been more consistent on pass rates across the plant-who knows what that spec is or how recently it's been updated? JAKE: (Skeptical) Really? Shouldn't the spec be uniform across all the plants? I've been working here a few months now and I was trained that we are supposed to measure versus the global spec (points to computer). KYLE: C'mon Jake, as business center manager, I know what you should be doing, and I'm telling you - use this spec (points to wall). JAKE: (Reluctantly) Okay, if you say so... ADDISON: Here are the two specs, Jon, the global spec and the "Local Spec." What do you think? JON: Very interesting. This "Local Spec" has higher tolerances than the company required global spec. The global spec is based on our internal requirements but also what some of our customers demand. This might explain why we are receiving high return rates on this tire for vibration. Looking at the print out of this machine, you can see the ones that should have been pulled. Someone had to have looked at the rates and changed to this "Local Spec" knowing it would help pass rates. "His manager and maybe others up the chain had to have known about this." ADDISON: So Kyle, which of the plant's managers and supervisors directed you to use the "Local Spec"? Beck Center’s ‘Virginia Woolf’ serves schadenfreude on the rocks Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, American Theatre Critics Association Edward Albee’s 1962 drama “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” invites audiences to be a collective fly on the wall of George and Martha’s modest home to witness their cruel psychological warfare, intense verbal abuse and what amounts to some of the best writing in the American theater. By hosting the play in the intimate back room known as the Studio Theater rather than on its larger main stage, the Beck Center for the Arts puts the audience directly in the line of fire. So close are the performers – made even more so by director Donald Carrier’s tendency to push them to the edge of the performance space and the brink of sanity – that there should be a splash zone for the flying gin and soaring tempers.
