Lee Directed by Sarah May Synopsis: *The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail* is a two-act American play by Robert E. Lee and Jerome Lawrence written in 1969. The play is based on the early life of the title character, Henry David Thoreau, leading up to his night spent in a jail in Concord, Massachusetts. Thoreau was jailed for refusing to pay a poll tax on the grounds that the money might be used to pay for the Mexican–American War, which he opposed. Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years. Dr. Hutton offers free consultations to those interested before committing to the voice studio. Independence Community Theater will be holding auditions for our upcoming show “A Clear View,” which is a series of three one acts directed by Ian Howard and Celia Lupton. They will be held at the theater, 6652 Brecksville Road, Independence, Ohio. Auditions will be Tuesday, Dec. 11 or Wednesday Dec. 12 at 7:00pm.
