Staff Assistant Stocker Arts Center Part-time Reporting to the Director of the Stocker Arts Center, the Staff Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to: performing multiple office tasks including receptionist duties; filing; data entry; and using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook to produce, organize and disseminate Stocker event information and records. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to work some morning, evening and weekend events in a supervisory capacity as needed. Required Qualifications: High school graduate (or equivalent); knowledge and experience in standard office equipment; experienced in word processing, spreadsheets and database management using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook; strong organizational skills; experience with social media platforms; proven customer services skills and experience; ability to work effectively in a team environment; ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule an average of 25 hours per week, which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree; knowledge of Resource 25 scheduling software; usher/theatre/house manager experience; and knowledge and interest in the visual and performing arts. LCCC presents 39th Annual Masterworks Concert “Mostly Mozart” Lorain County Community College’s Civic Chorale and Civic Orchestra will present “Mostly Mozart” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 in the Stocker Arts Center’s Hoke Theatre under the direction of guest conductor, William E. Davis III. The program will feature Mozart’s “Requim,” his final powerful and exciting masterpiece. Featured soloists will include Janine Porter, soprano; Nancy Davis, alto; Ronnie Dailey, tenor; and Thomas Wojnarowski, baritone. The program will also include selections by Vivaldi and Handel, two Baroque composers admired by Mozart, during this annual masterworks concert. *Seeking Instructors for Fall 2018 Art Classes* The Shaker Arts Council invites local artist, artisans and art aficionados to submit proposals for art related classes that will be offered through the Shaker Heights Department of Recreation. The classes will be scheduled for the Fall of 2018, between September 10 and November 12. These community classes can cover any artistic genre, for example, dance, jewelry making, painting, writing, improvisation, music theory, scrapbooking, or even juggling. Classes can be 4, 6, or 8 sessions depending on instructor’s preference. Instructors will receive 70% of the tuition collected for the course. If a course is accepted into the curriculum, adjustments in the final format may be necessary to meet scheduling needs or classroom availability. The Shaker Heights Department of Recreation will work with faculty to finalize arrangements. Cleveland Play House’s ‘The Invisible Hand’ a hand-wringing geo-political drama Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics Greed is at the core of Ayad Akhtar’s riveting drama “The Invisible Hand,” which received its off-Broadway premiere in 2014. Anguished introspection and no shortage of heated debate on the walk back to the parking garage is the result of Cleveland Play House’s production of it. The play revolves around a kidnapped American investment banker, Nick Bright, who is being held hostage in a bleak Pakistan prison by Islamic revolutionaries. Citibank has failed to come up with his $10 million ransom and Nick’s only way out is to tap his skills and play the stock market to benefit his captors and their cause and earn his freedom. In short, Nick’s future is tied to Pakistani futures and the unstable buying power of the rupee. Cain Park House Manager Location Cleveland Heights, OH Job Type Seasonal Part Time Description Responsible for coordinating and scheduling volunteer corps. Examples of Duties * Directly responsible to the Operations Manager and then to the General Manager. * Responsible for training volunteer ushers, ticket takers and volunteer security people in the proper procedures, and familiarizing them with the theaters. * Responsible to supervise the volunteers. * Responsible for advanced scheduling of volunteers and for assuring that there are enough volunteers -- ushers, ticket takers and/or security for any given event in both the Evans Amphitheater and the Alma Theater. * Responsible for overall coordination of volunteers= initial training session. * Responsible for proper record keeping of volunteer hours served and complimentary ticket credits earned. * Responsible for general supervision of ushers and patrons at Cain Park, including helping to maintain crowd control and avoid abusive noise levels. * Responsible for enforcing the rules of Cain Park -- including but not limited to those that say that parents will be asked to leave if their children do not have tickets or are disruptive; no alcohol can be carried into the Park; no smoking within the Park compound; no cameras, videotapes or tape recorders permitted, etc. * Responsible to assist and help supervise groups and parties, etc. These may take place before and/or after performances, and the House Manager is required to be present prior to their beginning and until they end. * Responsible to coordinate proper distribution of programs * Responsible to be on-site for all events, or to insure that they are appropriately covered by a substitute House Manager who is aware of all of the requirements of the position. * Required to attend any meetings as required by the Cain Park Public Relations office, the Operations Manager and/or the General Manager. * Responsible to train volunteers to know that they are never permitted to be backstage for any performance. Likewise, volunteers assigned to guard the backstage gate need to ensure that no one is allowed backstage without proper identification and/or the permission from Production Managers, General Manager, and/or Operations Manager. * Maintain high safety levels at all times for Park patrons, volunteers and employees. * Responsible to maintain a professional atmosphere among staff and volunteers. * Responsible for creating and distributing a volunteer handbook explaining the policies of the Park and the City. * Responsible for understanding the Cain Park Emergency Procedures plan and its impact upon patrons, volunteers and staff. Examples of Duties * Directly responsible to the Costume Shop Manager. * Supervise all wardrobe elements for the theater show. * Coordinate with the Costume Shop Manager the procurement of appropriate measurements as needed to facilitate the costume designs and fittings. * Supervise and assist all costume fittings * Attend all tech and dress rehearsals as required. * Work with the Costume Designer to realize their design. * Supervise the proper training of any actor required to wear any costume unfamiliar to them and train any park personnel required to wear/use any costume equipment unfamiliar to them. * Act as Wardrobe/Dresser during all performances. * Maintain and repair the costumes on a daily basis or as needed and coordinate the cleaning of said costumes throughout the run of the show. You will determine the schedule of dry cleaning with the Costume Shop Manager. * Coordinate the proper repacking and returning of rented costumes and accessories as well as the subsequent return or storage needs of other costumes. * Maintain high levels of safety at all times.
