What? Swing Dance hosted by Get Hep Swing When? Friday, April 13th Where? TWO locations! The Lakewood Masonic Temple,15300 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 and BluJazz+, 47 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44308 Dance lessons? Yes. Beginner-friendly jitterbug from 8-9 in Lakewood and 7-8 in Akron. Is there a band? Yes, in Lakewood with the swing dance-able Gypsy Jazz band, Moustache Yourself. They play from 9-12. In Akron with the jump blues, swing jazz and boogie boogie masters, Red Light Roxy. They play from 8 until 11. Is there a DJ? Yes. The DJ plays during band breaks. Who can attend? Everyone is welcome. People of all ages attend. Do I need previous dance experience? No Do I need a partner? No, we rotate dance partners during the lesson and people ask each other to dance all throughout the evening. What do I wear? Wear comfy shoes that allow you to pivot and turn easily. Wear clothing that makes you feel good about yourself. What is the cost? In Lakewood the cost is $12 per person, $10 for students and seniors, $5 for first-timers. In Akron the cost is $12. Seeking Talent for Huron Playhouse Final Bow

*Seeking Talent for * *Huron Playhouse’s 70th Anniversary Final Bow * Show Date: July 21, 2018 @ 7:00 PM Calling all Huron Playhouse alumni, supporters and anyone who loves theatre to join us in the cast and crew of this "swan song performance" of Ohio's longest running summer stock theatre. We plan to do medleys, solos and excerpts from shows that were produced many times during the Playhouse's 70 years. Potential titles include: 1776 Annie Get Your Gun Arsenic and Old Lace Brigadoon Carousel Cinderella Guys and Dolls Harvey Hello Dolly Oklahoma South Pacific The Mousetrap The Odd Couple Pajama Game. The chorus will rehearse twice a month, beginning in May in order to learn the music, which will not need to be memorized. Those doing excerpts will rehearse before or after the chorus rehearsals. Play cuttings or solos will require memorization. There will also be two hosts/narrators. Rehearsals will take place on Saturday or Sunday afternoons at a site TBD. Attendance at a majority of the rehearsals will be required. Final Dress Rehearsals will be Friday evening on July 20 and the morning of the show, Saturday, July 21. These will be at the historic home of Huron Playhouse, McCormick Middle School. But it, like last season’s “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night,” and “War Horse,” the marvelous hit of several seasons ago, is a straight play that has special appeal. Unlike those shows, it lacks the outstanding technical and special effects to grab and hold attention.
