Upcoming auditions at Weathervane Playhouse 8th Annual 8x10 TheatreFest Eight different plays, 10 minutes each. Auditions are by appointment. Actively seeking diverse casts. There are roles for both men and women ages 20 to 80. It is a very small time commitment due to the length of the shows, and only a one weekend run. Technical rehearsals are mandatory and take place on: Sunday, July 15 from noon to 10 p.m. Monday, July 16 from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 from 7 to 10 p.m.(sometimes this rehearsal is cancelled if the shows are ready to go) PRODUCTION DATES The 8x10 TheatreFest will play for five performances on Weathervane Playhouse's main stage from July 19th to July 22. LCCC Hosts Community Foundation Exhibit of Master Printmaker David C. Jansheski The Community Foundation of Lorain County will host "LUSH," an exhibition and sale of original works by master printmaker David C. Jansheski at the Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery at Lorain County Community College's Stocker Arts Center May 31 through June 20. Highlights of this show include lush mixed-media prints, relief prints and the signature "Kite" piece. The gallery will also be open the evening of July 11 for the Best of Lorain County event. An artists' reception will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 31. The Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery is open during exhibitions Mondays through Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and by appointment. All exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public. The gallery is also open for many evening and weekend events. David Jansheski was an internationally recognized professional artist for over 25 years. The former Avon Lake resident died in 2014 after donating his estate, including a collection of his personal works, to the Community Foundation of Lorain County. Stocker Arts Center is located on the campus of Lorain County Community College at 1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio. The Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery is on the second floor of Stocker Arts Center. Ashland University invites applications for 12-month Technical Director position starting August 1, 2018. MFA in Technical Theatre or BA/BFA with appropriate professional experience required. Experience with sound, electrics and welding helpful. Candidates must possess strong collaborative, instructional, organizational, communication and leadership skills and a commitment to mentoring undergraduate students. Manage day to day scene shop operations, equipment maintenance, engineering, implementation and installation of all scenic, lighting, and sound elements, serve as master carpenter, draft shop drawings (Vectorworks), oversee undergraduate student crews and construction for two theatres and three main stage productions each year. Serve as facility manager for the theatre spaces and teach one technical theatre course per semester. Maintain production and rehearsal facilities, and ensure a safe working environment. Ability to hire, train and manage work-study students and student crews, and flexibility to work nights and weekends. Review of applications will begin immediately. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in.
