Western Reserve Playhouse Presents "bare"

Western Reserve Playhouse presents the emotional drama bare with Music by Damon Intrabartolo, Lyrics by Jon Hartmere and Book by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo. The show will run July 13-28. As part of their commitment to community awareness, WRP is partnering with the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to bring you this show. In doing so, WRP & GLSEN will be holding talkbacks after the performances on July 14th, 22nd and 27th. These talkbacks will include the ability to talk with the cast and director, as well as different representatives from GLSEN. A pulsating, electric contemporary rock musical, bare follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity and the future. Peter and Jason have fallen in love with each other, but Jason - a popular athlete - fears losing his status if he is discovered to be gay. Unpopular Nadia, Jason’s sister, is contemptuous of Ivy, a beautiful girl with a questionable reputation. As the group attempts to put up a production of Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, self-doubt simmers and God’s path seems more difficult to find than ever. bare rings with the sounds of youthful repression and revolt. With a unique sung-through pop score, heart-pounding lyrics and a cast of bright young characters, bare is a provocative, fresh and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul, and the consequences of continuing to hide. Co-Artistic Director Brian Westerley directs this stunning piece, with Musical Direction by Dave Stebbins and Choreography by Kristy Cruz. Tackling the roles of Peter & Jason are Nick Urbanic & Nick Sobotka, respectively. Bringing her own unique take to Nadia is Korinne Courtwright & stunningly portraying Ivy is Laney Davis. The other students are played by Dominic Sonby, Daniel Hunsicker, Kayla Lehman, Khylee Kridler, Olivya DeLuca, Brooke Lytton, Austin Hopson and Ben Arrington. Auditions for "Little Women: The Musical" will take place Sunday, July 15 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm & on Monday, July 16 from 6-pm -8:30pm. Callbacks will be Tuesday, July 17 from 6-9pm (if needed). Dance auditions will occur from 8:30-9:30PM the day of your audition, so please bring clothes to change into. The show runs October 5-20, 2018, with the possibility of touring to a few schools. Directed by: Artistic Director Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski Musical Direction: Dave Stebbins Choreographer: Jen Justice Please prepare a full contemporary musical theater piece (prefer legit with a mix of belt).
