Movies are an important part of our lives and more and more kids are becoming interested in how they are made. LYFA's 8 Week Program is designed to give your child a crash course in how to create professional movies from start to finish. >From screenwriting to lighting and sound, to camera work to editing, LYFA's award winning instructors will guide your child through the creative process and onto a journey of artistic expression using the cinematic arts. There will be one field trip scheduled to the Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art to watch a classic film and tour the projection booth. **Members of Female Filmmaker Fridays also get membership in this group and are welcome to stay. * *Female Filmmaker Fridays* is an 8 week film club where female students grades 8-12 interested in film and filmmaking are invited to the Lakewood Young Filmmakers Academy to meet other women who work in the industry and learn about a variety of topics pertaining to filmmaking. There will be presentations, speaker forums and opportunities for mentoring. What’s important in this zany, high energy romp is trust and chemistry between the actors. Looking for fearless actors who can play multiple roles and give an improvised feel to a scripted show. Indeed, this will be my 50th directed production in a total of 18 years at Lakeland. While I was only 20 years old, the story immediately captured my attention; unrequited love, beautiful melodies and a total lack of misunderstanding amongst all the characters… now that was drama! Based on the Ingmar Bergman film *Smiles of a Summer Night*, this musical, with a book by Hugh Wheeler, concerns three mismatched couples. Desiree Armfeldt, an actress, is seeing Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm who is married to Charlotte Malcolm. Frederik Eggerman, Desiree's past lover, is married to the still-virginal Anne, who is half his age. Henrik Eggerman, Frederik's son who is also a divinity student, loves his stepmother Anne, who is a year younger than him. Petra, Frederik and Anne's maid, Madame Armfeldt, Desiree's mother, and Frederica, Desiree's daughter round out the action which occurs in town and at "A Weekend in the Country" at Madame Armfeldt's house in the land of the midnight sun. The musical features a lieder quintet as a Greek chorus. *Production Dates:* *A Little Night Music **will open on Friday, September 7 and run through Sunday September 30, 2018. Hudson Players Auditions for War of the Worlds: The 1938 Radio Script By Howard E. Koch Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. Directed by Theresa Benyo-Marzullo Audition Dates: Sept. 16 & 17, 2018 - 7:00 p.m. Barlow Community Center 41 S. Oviatt St. Hudson, Ohio 44236 Performance Dates: Oct 19 & 20, 2018 - One Weekend Only (8:00 p.m. curtain) The auditions will involve reading from the script. ALL ROLES AVAILABLE. Hudson Players does not pre-cast. Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the original broadcast in Oct of 1938, this special one weekend only staged reading, retells Orson Wells' famous Halloween radio fright night to the nation detailing a realistic-sounding Martian attack. Experience the broadcast that shook the country. This is sure to be a crowd-pleaser! All actors (except for Sound Effects Artist and family) must be able to speak with different voices for each character. Rehearsals will be minimal; only once per week for 4 weeks except for Tech week. Characters are as follows: Orson Welles/Professor Pierson: Male (20s to 30s) - Leader & director of the radio play and also plays a professor of astronomy. Announcer/Commander Voght/Stranger: Male (any age) - Typical radio announcer. Also plays a military communications operator, military lieutenant, and a stranger highly effected by the invasion and is interviewed by Pierson at the end of the play. Announcer One & Two/Operator One: Male or Female (any age) - Introduces other characters and acts as a sort of narrator. Also plays a military communications operator. Announcer Three/Mr. Wilmuth/VP Harry McDonald/Gunner/Operator 2: Male (40s to 60s) - Radio announcer, farmer, executive, military gunner and military communications operator. Reporter Carl Phillips/Observer/Operator Four: Male (20's to 40's) - Radio reporter who interviews Professor Pierson and also plays a military observer & communications operator. Policeman/Captain Lansing/Secretary of the Interior/General Smith/Officer/Operators Three & Five: Male (50's to 70's) - Policeman, military captain, politician, military general, artillery office, and military communications operator. Sound Effects Artist (Male or Female, any age): able to create sound effects throughout the play. Non-speaking role. Family of 3-4: Need a small group to play a Mom, Dad and their children (1-2 teens or preteens) as a family around a radio listening to the original 1938 broadcast of the show and being drawn in thinking that aliens are invading the earth. Spotlights Theater Presents “The Importance of Being Earnest” The Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater will be presenting Oscar Wilde’sclassic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest, August 24 – September8, 2018. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM. A 3:00 PMmatinee will be held on September 2. All performances take place at theBroadview Heights Cultural Arts Building (Home of the Spotlights Theater),located next to the Police Station on the Broadview Center property, 9543Broadview Road. Tickets are $13 for adults and $12 for students and seniors andmay be purchased online at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org. There will be a special performance on Thursday,September 6th. Proceedsbenefit the Broadview Heights Community Foundation which is helping fund thenew amphitheater at Broadview Center. We are currently short one senior male actor. *Synopsis:* Based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. The good and the evil within all of us. *The Roles:* *Sir Danvers Carew*, late 40s to 60s. Only appears in Act I and II. Sir Danvers is the father to Diana, and she is is love with Dr. Jekyll. He is a very arrogant man. He may be a friend of Dr. Jekyll, by Mr. Hyde finds him to be an annoyance. This is a small role, perfect for a novice actor, or an experienced actor who is looking for a minimum time commitment.
