Presented on Saturday, September 29, the Festival features open workshops and craft talks, new plays by local authors, a special video screening, a unique “tabletop play,” and much more. Featured writers in the 4th Annual Cleveland Playwrights Festival include John Busser, Cornell Hubert Calhoun III, JC Cifranic, Erin E. Dolan, Agnes Herrmann, Gail Nyoka, Reys Phillips, and Amy Schwabauer. In addition, Playwrights Local is pleased to welcome the following partner companies to the event: The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival; The Dramatists Guild - Ohio Region; Literary Cleveland; Powerful Long Ladder Ensemble; and the Upstairs Web-Series. Each of these groups will present or co-present sessions in the day-long gathering. Sound and Projection Technician The Cleveland Play House (LORTB), the oldest continuously operating regional theatre in America, is acceptingapplications for a Sound Technician. The Sound and Projection Technicianreports to the Sound and Projection Supervisor. Responsibilities include: · Assist with theinstallation and strike of sound plots and projection equipment. · Assist with theconstruction of any specialty items such as speaker stands or projection stands · Program andoperate computers and mixing consoles · Check all soundequipment and video equipment prior to each performance making sure all gear isin proper working order, including charged batteries in all wireless equipmentand proper focus and alignment of projectors. · Execute cuesaccurately during technical rehearsals and performances as called by StageManager. · Help maintainsound and video equipment and tools making sure they are in safe and properworking order. · Maintain accurateand up to date paper work for each production including sound plot and cuesheets. · Keep booth, FXroom, and sound storage areas clean and free of debris. · Follow all healthand safety guidelines established by the theatre. Report any unsafe conditions or practices toyour supervisor immediately. RelatedResponsibilities: · Arrive on timeand ready to work. · Assist other CPHdepartments with in-house sound and video needs as necessary. Qualifications: - Knowledge of theatrical sound and video systems and equipment including mixing consoles, speakers, microphones, amplifiers, EQ and processing gear, media servers.Experience with recording, editing and playback of sound effects, music and video. - Experience with mixing live sound. - Working knowledge of theatrical sound and video software including QLab and WatchOut. - Able to work as a member of a team but also able to take on individual projects through to completion. - Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and able to work from ladders, personnel lifts and other heights. *STAGECRAFTERS AUDITIONS* *THE CABARET TROUPE* Director/Choreographer: Tali Friedman Music Director: Malik Khalfani The Cabaret Troupe is a Musical Theater Master Class for the most disciplined and talented teens in Cleveland. This elite ensemble is designed to teach and inspire students to further reach their potential and career goals while showcasing their talent in a Musical Theater Revue. The Cabaret Troupe is planning a trip to New York City to take master classes with Broadway performers over Spring Break this year. In order to be eligible for the trip, you must be cast in the troupe during either the fall or spring of the 2018/2019 school year. Mandatory fees apply for the trip. Auditions open to students in 8th grade through 12th grade. Audition Date: Sunday, September 16 Audition Time: 5:30pm-8:00pm. Please plan on staying the entire time Audition Location: Pepper Pike Learning Center (32000 Chagrin Blvd. Pepper Pike, OH 44124). Rehearsal dates: Sundays from 5:30pm-8:30pm Tech week: Sunday, December 9-Thursday, December 14. Show dates: Friday, December 14th and Saturday, December 15th @ 7pm Come prepared with 32 bars of a musical theatre song. Please bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided as well as a CD player and aux cable for those wishing to use instrumental accompaniment trax (CD or mp3). No a capella auditions. Also please bring clothing/shoes you can dance in. Please bring a headshot and resume, or be prepared to list your previous experience on your audition form. Please also be aware of any potential conflicts. Once rehearsals have begun, it will be very difficult to work around conflicts that are not listed on your original audition form. If you accept a role in the show, each cast member is required to pay a registration fee of $198 to help subsidize the cost of mounting this production.
