HATHAWAY BROWN THEATRE INSTITUTE opens the summer 2019 season with "Oliver!" Book, Music and Lyrics by LIONEL BART June 28 - July 7, 2019 Directed and Choreographed by Bebe Weinberg Katz, Music Directed by John Krol, Set Design by T. Paul Lowry, Lighting Design by Tom West, Costume and Prop Design by Vanessa Cook. Based on the novel OLIVER TWIST by Charles Dickens, this Tony award-winning musical adaptation springs to life with some of the most memorable characters and songs ever to hit the stage; "Food Glorious Food", "Where Is Love", "Consider Yourself" and "As Long As He Needs Me" to name just a few of the songs that earned Lionel Bart the Tony for Best Original Score. OLIVER is one of the few musicals to win an academy award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actor and audiences alike. The streets of Victorian England are full of life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes a neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance among a group of petty thieves and pickpockets lead by elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr Brownlow, takes him in. Fearing for the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, leaving Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of family in jeopardy. Performances are in the Ahuja Auditorium at Hathaway Brown School, 19600 North Park Blvd., Shaker Hts. OH on Friday June 28th , Saturday June 29th, Friday July 5th and Saturday July 6th at 7:30 PM. AUDITIONS for the mystery, suspense thriller "The Uninvited" by Tim Kelly are to be held at The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County. Audition Dates: Sunday, June 30th, 2019 at 7pm Monday, July 1st, 2019 at 7pm * No reservations are required* Preparation: Those auditioning are asked to prepare a one-minute dramatic monologue. Auditions will also consist of readings from the script. Performances: Thursday-Sunday, August 15th - 25th, 2019 Evening performances begin at 7:30pm, Sunday matinees begin at 2:30pm Rehearsals: Sunday–Thursday, July 7th - August 14th, 2019 Synopsis: The plot revolves around a brother and sister, who, eager for a quieter lifestyle, leave London to purchase an abandoned home along a cliffside in Western England. It soon becomes apparent that they are not living there alone. Rumor has it that it may be the beautiful Mary Meredith, whose mysterious death occurred on the property 15 years prior. The owners soon realize that the ghost is not only real, but quite dangerous, and the key to solving the mystery is right in front of them. Near West Theatre seeks an experienced Stage Manager for its upcoming production of The Addams Family. This is a paid position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Attend and take notes at all production meetings * Manage rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation of blocking and technical elements. * Manage tech rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation for run of show. * Supervise and direct crew for run of show. * Manage crew and cast call times, sound checks, performances and sightlines. * Call audio, lighting, video, and deck cues. * Complete rehearsal and show reports, according to Company standards. * Attend tech notes following each night of tech. * Coordinate with Front of House during performances * Manage emergency situations if they arise during rehearsals and performances (will be trained on company procedures) * Maintain rehearsal and performance spaces. Required Skills: * Astute attention to detail * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with others * Must be able to solve problems as and when they may arise * Strong organizational and adaptability skills * Positive attitude and the ability to remain effective under pressure while managing staff and motivating teams for best results. * Experience working with kids ages 9-15 Rehearsals start Monday, July 29th. The theme of the shoot is a home clean out and will require action footage of throwing or placing things in a dumpster as well as several poses for stills.
