AUDITIONS - THE TRIALS OF ROBIN HOOD - Beck Center Youth Theater Beck Center for the Arts Youth Theater, one of the oldest continuously running Youth Theaters in the country, will be holding auditions on September 14 & 15, 2019 for the first production of our 71st Season: The Trials of Robin Hood Written by Will Averill Directed by Russel Stich The Story: Robin Hood: lusty hero, hopeless lover, or evil criminal? Upon his return from the Crusades, King Richard is forced to try and figure out what happened in his kingdom during his absence. Is the outlaw Robin Hood a hero, a lovelorn sap, or just plain mean? Told from the perspectives of Robin himself, Maid Marian, and Prince John, this hilarious tale combines three different stories into one. Whose story will King Richard and the audience believe? Rubber City Theatre is holding auditions for 2019/2020 mainstage season production of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure. We are casting local non-union actors. Audition appointments are by appointment only. WHEN: Saturday, September 7 from 11:00am - 5:00pm Sunday, September 8 from 5:30pm-9:00pm WHERE: Rubber City Theatre 243 Furnace St Akron, OH 44308 TO SCHEDULE AN AUDITION: APPOINTMENTS CAN BE MADE BY E-MAIL to casting(a)rubbercitytheatre.com. But, however limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities. With his trusted companion, Doctor Watson, at his side, Sherlock Holmes pursues first the case, and then the affections of Miss Adler—and in doing so, marches right into the lair of his longtime adversary, that malevolent genius of crime: Professor Moriarty. In this spirited, fast-moving and thoroughly theatrical adaptation, Steven Dietz presents Holmes at the height of his powers—surrounded by all the elements that fans of his exploits have come to expect: danger, intrigue, wit, humor and surprise. Holmes’ nemesis and his ultimate equal match in “the game"; criminal mastermind--oversees much of London’s criminal activity; an educated and brilliant man with a masterful habit of never leaving a trace. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities King of Bohemia: Male, 20s/30s. a desperate, rather dramatic man of royal descent to be married in two weeks; hires Holmes to dispense of a problem with former lover of Irene Adler. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities James Larrabee: Male, 20s/30s. as an upper-class lawyer, Godfrey Norton he quickly marries Irene Adler, but in truth he is James, a lower-class swindler and a scam artist. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities Madge Larrabee: Female, 20s/30s. James Larrabee’s scheming and unfeeling sister, Madge Larrabee is also part of Moriarty's gang. Join GroundWorks *Friday, September 13th* where Brooks will be teaching an advanced contemporary masterclass at *CSU* Department of Theater and Dance from *5:00-6:30*. *This class begins with a series of continuous and rigorous warm-up exercises, with an emphasis on motion and pathways through space. Using different somatic approaches to understand and articulate the body’s alignment and placement in space, dancers explore principles of movement that can be applied to many dance forms. Highly technical sequences develop strong muscular and core support while integrating with the body’s weight and breath. Concurrently, Brooks is completing a three-year appointment as Choreographer in Residence at The Harris Theater in Chicago, where he has created works for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Miami City Ballet and Brian Brooks Moving Company. His New York-based company has toured internationally since 2002 with presentations by The Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Jacob’s Pillow, American Dance Festival and Lumberyard Performing Arts. Brooks has been commissioned by Damian Woetzel/Vail International Dance Festival for multiple works, including *First Fall*, a duet with NYC Ballet Associate Artistic Director and former Principal Wendy Whelan. Off-Broadway, he has choreographed *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* (2013, dir. Julie Taymor) and *Pericles* (2016, dir. Trevor Nunn) for Theatre for a New Audience. Brooks has created dances for The Juilliard School, Boston Conservatory, Ballet Tech and Chicago Academy for the Arts; worked as a Teaching Artist at Lincoln Center Education; and taught at high schools and colleges, including courses at Rutgers and Princeton universities. Awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, NY City Center Fellowship and Joyce Theater Residency.

NARRATOR: Any Gender (Range: Non-Singing Role) Follows our two hero’s through the story by narrating directly to the audience. RIFF RAFF: Male (Range: High Rock Tenor) Creepy man resembling more of a zombie. Often makes harmless conversation seem awkward and foreboding. One of Frank’s servants. COLUMBIA: Female (Range: Mezzo Soprano Belt) One of Frank’s servants. Tap dance experience preferred. FRANK 'N' FURTER: Any Gender (Range: Baritone) Master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating a man to be part of his sexual entourage. Master of seduction. ROCKY: Male (Range: Tenor) Frank’s magnificent creation. Masterclass participants are welcome to bring guests interested in observing the class from the audience. *Bio* Natalie Weiss gained an international following from her performance videos and popular YouTube web series, "Breaking Down The Riffs". As a private vocal coach and master class teacher, she trains performers across the US and throughout the world. Natalie guides singers with her trademarked method to break down riffs & runs from pop icons and often refers to her mission as “Pop Singing For Dummies.” Natalie is one of the most sought-after voices among new musical theatre writers and is a soloist on several albums by numerous new musical theatre composers. She is part of the vocal ensemble on the acclaimed soundtrack for The Greatest Showman, can be heard on the Original Broadway Cast recording of Dear Evan Hansen as one of the Virtual Community Voices and is one of 4 singers on the main jingles for The Incredibles 2. Other credits include Everyday Rapture on Broadway, national tours of Les Miserables and Wicked and regional productions of Ghost and Chess.
