OPPORTUNITY! Do you have what it takes to be English Hammer-Throwing Champion 1969? Do you still have nightmares about horrifying school officials? Do you just want to have a great time telling a classic children's story? If so, we want you to audition the Happy Ending Lyric Players Spring Production, Matilda the Musical! HELP does NOT precast and ALL roles are open! We will host open auditions for all performers (no need to sign up or register, just come have some fun on stage). Auditions will be held - Saturday January 18th from 12-4 - Sunday January 19th from 2-5 - Monday January 20th from 7-9:30pm. Please prepare 32 bars of an upbeat song for auditions and be prepared to do some light dancing. An accompanist will be provided. Make sure you have your sheet music as well! Some individuals may be asked to do a cold reading from a scene from the show. The show runs March 20 - March 29! Touring ‘The Illusionists’ offers delightful deception at Playhouse Square Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal The Mentalist. The Trickster. The Daredevil. The Elusive. The Manipulator. The Showman. The Transformationalists. No, these are not new recruits to the Marvel and D.C. comic-book universes. But the hyperbolic publicist who promotes their blockbuster films may well be doing freelance for these master illusionists, who are on tour for a limited now-you-see-them-now-you-don’t engagement at Playhouse Square. According to the press release, “The Illusionists: Live From Broadway” is a “mind-blowing spectacular” that is “packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions” that “dazzles audiences of all ages.” That isn’t smoke and mirrors. Raise-the-Roof Concert Series Continues

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE North Eaton Christian Church will continue its series of Sunday afternoon, monthly fundraising concerts with the February 2, 3 p.m., appearance of Ron Thomas and Diana Tyler. Ron Thomas is an acoustic guitarist and vocalist performing Country, Americana, and Gospel music. He released a Gospel album, How Great Thou Art, in 2006. As a solo artist, Ron has opened shows for Country Music legends Carl Smith and Kitty Wells. He has also worked a sideman playing electric bass, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin and accordion. Diana Tyler is a singer/songwriter whose original songs connect with spiritual and secular audiences alike. Her music appears on three self-released albums and several compilations, ranging from folk, country, and gospel, to pop, rock, and comedy songs. The one-hour concert will be followed by a reception, including refreshments. There is no charge for admission, but a freewill offering will help support the congregation's Roof Fund. In addition to raising funds for a new roof, the concert series was designed to expose audiences to a variety of quality, local talent. Previous performers have included singer/songwriters Ken Moody-Arndt, Bob Sammon, and Jim Schafer, as well as a gospel group and a Christmas concert featuring a diverse slate of performers. Upcoming concerts will include the March 1 double-bill of Jerry Allen and Matt Doyle; an April 5 afternoon of karaoke; and, a May 3 "Klergy and Keys" event which will feature David Chafin (Pastor of NECC) and Nathan Russell (Pastor of Washington Avenue Christian Church, Elyria). Auditions for the Musical, Thrill Me; Selah Dessert Theater

Selah Dessert Theater is holding auditions for the dark musical, Thrill Me, with Book, Music, and Lyrics by Stephen Dolginoff. Auditions are Sunday, Jan.19th and Monday, Jan. 20th at 6:00 PM. Auditions will be held at the theater upstairs from Selah Restaurant in Struthers, Ohio. Casting Requirements: 2 men who can play 20ish. Strong vocal skills (baritone/2nd Tenor range) Experienced actor Please be prepared to sing a selection from the show and to read from the script. Actors must be comfortable with the material: kidnapping and murder of an adolescent boy and homosexuality The Story: This is based on the true lives of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb in 1920's Chicago. These two young men from wealthy families, embark on a life of crime culminating in the kidnapping and murder of an adolescent boy. They are arrested and their parents hire Clarence Darrow as defense attorney. The boys escape the death penalty and are sentenced to life in prison. The play is told in a series of flash backs as Nathan is trying to convince the parole board to let him out of prison. The play is directed by Mary Ruth Lynn. Anthony Ruggiero is Music Director. CALL FOR MUSICIANS: Violin and Trombone Center for Arts-Inspired Learning is currently seeking three (3) music instructors for the Spring 2020 Play It Forward season: Professional Teaching Artist in Trombone, Professional Teaching Artist in Violin, and Teaching Assistant in Violin. Candidates must have prior background in working with youth and strong professional or college level violin or trombone experience. This program is an opportunity to connect underserved youth in Cleveland to classical instrument instruction. Participants in grades 3-8 will have the opportunity to learn to play the violin or trombone for the first time or enhance previously learned skills. This program is generously funded by the City of Cleveland. All student participants will be given a violin or trombone for free for the duration of this program and have the opportunity to keep these for future use.
